1.3l swift engine conversion question
1.3l swift engine conversion question
Gday
I'm in the process of fitting a replacement engine into my sierra.
I know I need to swap the sump, oil pick up, inlet maniford, exhaust manifold as the new motor is out of a fwd car. My question is about the distributor - i've read that this may or may not fit? And can I just swap the old one straight on or are there internal parts like the cam that need changing?
Also, I'm lead to believe that the clutch is not the same. The one on the new motor is quite good - can I swap parts between them or do I need special tools to align it all?
Can anyone clarify??
Cheers

The cam drive to dizzy is different on some later swifts.
But some early ones have same drive as Sierra, so just swapping the dizzy over will work.
If not you need to change the cam over to the Sierra cam, or cut hole in firewall for dizzy.
You can buy a right angle dizzy conversion, but it may only be for gti?

try typing right angle dizzy drive into search, with use all terms clicked.
It finds a few threads on subject, including this one http://carl.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtopi ... izzy+drive
I went thru the same hunt, and finaly just swapped over the cams. Wasn't as bad as I expected, but certainly not for inexperienced hands.
