Supercheap Disco (LR Disease has set in)

Post by amshaw »

Ok Just back from Looking at said Disco I was talking about in other site/thread. I also have pics if anybody is interested....I just cant post them here

4/97 SE 300TDi, Man.
221k, Alloys, 7 seater,
Drivers Air Bag only, HD Tow Bar.
Gray Int & clean, brand new clutch.

Motor buggerd due to over heating, back two bore's are very badly scored and block has been tested and that cly area is very soft....and the motor has been striped down.

There is rust coming through around the alpine windows, right side has just a few little bubbles and the left has much more about 100mm long and just breaking the paint work. I have pics if anybody can tell us if its an easy fix for the rust.

There are few small dents.....just the norm shopping trolly type and there are alot of stone chips and scratch's around the whole car......but I think most will buff out.

Will need new tyres, which I have a few in the shed, int is clean and everythnig seems to be there and all elec windows work etc.

Font left bumper has taken a little hit....just enough to break the headlight washer. I have no idea what she is like underneth as Marie didnt let my climb under to have a look (on the way to another bloody xmas do)

I think with a little work and $ this would be a very good offroader. Marie even said "Why cant we pull all the off road gear of our current Disco and put it all on the new one?? , So I can drive the Auto all the time?"

But.....what are the chance's of finding another good low km 300 top put in it? Or would I be better off finding another block and try and find someone to rebuild it? Or how about dumping a chev TD in the Disco?

I was even thinking about going to the auction's to buy a wreck.....any idea's bloke's?

What do you think....worth more thought do you think? Happy to hear honest comments

Pay the $1000 - $1500 for it, fix the rust and put a 4BD1 in it. For 5k - 6k you'd have a good truck
