2LTE turbo and fueling issues

Post by STUMPY »

Hi all,

I'm having a few issues with the surf so I'll try to detail the issues as clear as possible.

I was on Stockton beach camping and driving with the car running perfectly fine.
I got off the beach and noticed the car felt under powered and noticed that the green boost light on the dash wasn't coming on.

I limped back to Sydney thinking that i picked up some bad fuel and changed the fuel filter. There was an small improvement in performance for a short period of time, ( still no turbo light) only to majorly die in the arse again.

I drained the tank of all fuel and refilled, drove it for 10 km's and replaced the fuel filter again.

The car is still running poorly with no boost light. I know that the globe works because the light comes on when you turn the keys onto reds (on) but the light turns off during cranking.

Any potential ideas??

Cheers Joel

Sounds like you have a leak in the intake system, and the boost is leaking out via a split hose, joiner or crack in intercooler tank (if equipped) etc.

I reckon your boost sense line has come off the boost sensor (bolted to the air box), and subsequently, the EFI system isnt seeing boost and isnt fueling the car correctly, and will also explain why your green boost light isnt coming on in the dash!!

Check the boost line to the manifold... theres only a push style hose clamp on it and has been known to work its way loose.

Or pop off when fed 16psi.

You'll get no light on the dash, from this.

Are you hearing a loud rushing sound as its trying to come on boost?

I agree with the above 2 posts also check on all other vacum lines controlling the turbo, waste gate actuator boost sensor ect..one of these lines has split or come off.
