My friend made this for his car. I ask him if he will do something like this for my feroza's last diff
and here it is - LSD for last differential.
I will test it and if this LSD work, he will start a production of 100 pieces. The price will be aprox 280 aus dollars od 160 eur.

How will it stand on a stock DIFF that was not made to hold LSD? Please give us more info and also some pictures when you will open your diff of your ROZA. I am afraid to do it my self (i need to see how it works)

Going off the way a Phatom Grip works. The 2 plates squash completely together and fits into the center of your diff. Each half sits around the cross shaft. The springs then push the plates apart and apply pressure to the side gears, like so causing pressure and limiting slip.Fearhoza wrote:care to explain the concept? :/
This is a fitted Phantom Grip into a Mini Diff
They are in a sense, the "lokka" of the LSD world. They are a cheaper simpler LSD design, some people love them, others hate them, some have major problems with breakages and not working correctly, others have no problems.
Supposedly the Phantom Grips basically lock the diff up under hard acceleration, so be interested to see if they do the same for lifted wheels. If i didn't have a Toyota now with an Air Locker it would be something to seriously look at in my opinion.

A stupid question is a 100% LSD? One more thing when your making big turngs do you hear the unlocking and locking of the LSD? But nice info i hope your system to get more improved and work out.

It works well for the price u pay.
Just my 2 cents is that a proper clutch pack lsd is still better than a phantom grip.
I know someone who did something similiar to that but he incorporated further with something like a vertical pinion shaft.
So as the ring gear moves it throws the pinion shaft forward that gives more locking like a wedge lock effect.
I dont have any pics but looks something like this from the lock rite website.
That is what i mean by the "vertical pinion shaft"
As the pinion throws forward, it pushes the 2 "phantom grip" blocks harder on the sun gears.
That particular phantom grip, i havent seen it in action b4.

Hilux rear axle in feroza
with this toyota rear axle conversion did you do the front as well (as in independent type or solid axle conversion) cause of the different ratio's. And if so what year hilux did you rip it out of, cause free wheeling center is usless as a third nut on a grey hound.

Its actually a HiAce axle with a Hilux 5.29 ARB locked centre. Has a late model - large bearing - centre with solid pinion spacer etc.
HiAce axles are five stud which means they can be redrilled to Feroza PCD without comming too close to the original studs.
Five into six is of course possible but there is a pair of holes that are a bit close for my liking.
Hilux and HiAce diffs are virtually identical but HiAce suited my needs better - so Hilux would probably be just as easy ( as long as the width was OK, there seem to be a few variants )
Spring seats - bumpstop seats etc have to be changed and of course the tailshaft modified ( shortened ) - currently just running an adapter disk to take care of bolt patterns as am eventually putting in a Vitara auto an crawler ( 4.3:1 ) equipped TCase - so will make a "propper" shaft when the time comes.
Brakes were straightforward and the handbrake was a littl more of a pain but with the old Feroza cables, the HiAce cables, one new inner and some adaption it all works fine.
The rear ends up 7" wider than a narrow track so the front is being widened to match. Still have the IFS but has longer control arms, driveshafts, pitman arms etc etc.......
Interesting that the "widetrack" is just that - same suspension arms etc as the narrowtrack so it has NO MORE travel. By widening a "Narrowtrack" I actually get more travel so thats a good feature.
It all ends up fitting under widetrack flares - and is Widetrack width ( well within a few mm ) but has more travel.
And if you want to do it, its not cheap as 5.29 gears are not so easily available and the locker costs as well. All the other little bits arn't difficult but it all adds up.
But its a different vehicle with a locked rear - with some assistance on the front diff things can only get better.
