hi guys quick question i can't seem to find the answer
I have a H233B diff with factory diff lock in a SWB Ford Maverick 1988 TB42. I have a 5 speed manual.
My question i brought Castrol LSX85W/140 diff oil is this the right shiat for the diff or did i buy the wrong stuff?
Also i brought Castrol VMX 80 gearbox oil is this the right stuff just wanna make sure before i crack the seals the guy at repco were i brought this had no idea i endded up picking these ..
Well i looked up for maverick and it says that the diff oil i got is the right one and the gearbox i got is a little different but on the bottle for the gearbox oil says that it's recommended for ford 3,4,5 speed manuals so i'm tipping it should be right by any luck.
The only thing is that in my manual has a different oil for limited slip and diff locker by on the castrol site just recommends one type of oil and it can be used in limited slip diffs..
You DID get the right stuff! What you have'll work for the diff/gearbox you've got, there isn't really anything else that would be better, either! VMX80 is basically exactly the same stuff that Nissan use, except that VMX already has added the friction modifiers that Nissan put in after the oil from a tube. The LSX will work at least as well as the Nissan version, and there are arguments that it is actually better for the longevity of the diff than the Nissan goop.
You can use what you've got without any worries at all! Be happy that you've done the right thing!
I have changed both diff and gearbox oils and i find when i change gears now it's alot smoother not as rough. Diff i can't really tell that much but knowing it has nice clean fresh oil in both makes me happy
