Jimny wheels rubbing

Post by brianstevens »

I’ve got an issue with my wheels rubbing the guards in an uneven way and I’m hoping someone out there can offer some advise.

When I reverse and turn the steering wheel to the right, the left front wheel rubs on the inside of the bumper. It doesn’t rub when I move forward and it doesn’t rub on the right hand side.

On the right, when I’m bouncing down a rocky track the wheel rubs on the rear outside edge of the guard and it’s rubbed off the plastic clips that hold the guard to the body.

I guess what I’m asking is how come the wheels don’t rub in the same way on both sides? Is there something I can do to stiffen up the front axel to stop the rubbing?

Rubbing it's life on a jim. Most of us owners have done some cutting. Some lots more than others. Try this site too. www.jimny.se A site just for jims. 7 inch offset you may find it hits the back wall too.

thanks mate,

I've given the front guard a bit of a pull by hand and it's helped. I was hoping to put some 235 75 15 Cooper STT tyres on when they're due for a change but I'm thinking what I have is about my limit unless I get the saw out.

Thanks again.
