Well, here you are baggin out evry nissan made left right and centre, wow, sligh problem with fuel, a little bit of smoke, slighly underpowered. You seem to forget that, the only difference is ours are approx 10 years plus some old, and yours is only about 2 to 3 years old, yet, your 3.0L's seem to have more plrblems than all previous model put together. so i may have a fuel problem, but mines what 13 years old with about 270 000ks, anf yet 3L engines are are kickin the bucket, id have to say i think that all previous models hav out lived yours so far, dont go knockin them we are all in the Nissan Family,

Now ive had enough of the shiet, so dont go tryin to tell evryone else how your 3L is better when the fact may be that it is "NOT"

Fisher , you are on another planet !!!!!!

3.0TDi are good , but not great !!!!

not many TD42 or TB 42 have failed , just from driving !!!!!(like 3.0 do !!)

wake up & smell the diesel fumes !!!!!

Yeah but his is a UK one and had the engine replaced no such drama.

I agree though Fish just consider Oz conditions are a little different to the UK and some of the miles we do on terrain that you haven't got in the UK leads to little probs like this.

If you are just ribbing leave it in Chit Chat please.

Look - everyone is slagging the 3.0TDi. Someone posts a problem with the 3.0l engine and before you know it half a dozen follow ups appear saying how crap they are.

I'm just doing the same - it may not be helpful but it evens the score.

If I have an oil leak (or whatever the latest common problem is supposed to be) then I don't need to hear that the 4.2 is easier to fix. Personally, I have had my engine replaced by Nissan under warranty and have had no problems AT ALL with the vehicle.

For those that still feel sorry for 3.0 owners, take a look at the survey on the Yahoo Autos Group:

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Patrol4WD/polls

I'll tell you the results since you have to be a lucky owner to complete the questionaire and view them..

overall, only 1.19% are unhappy with their 3.0TDi Patrol and only 7.14% report having had engine problems.

These are the results from the owners - these are the facts.

let it die dudes.. The toyota Vs nissan thing is dumb enough, but arguing about different engine families in the same vehicle is just insane..

Yeah and MK owners bagged the shit outta GQ owners (oh that coil thing will never work been in Rangies and they are shyt etc etc)

It is generational things don’t worry about it. I Luv my 3.0L it has more power than a stock 4.2 Intercooled TD and uses less fuel not a single problem I couldn't care less what the others say cept Bruce cause I luv ribbing him and he can take it.

Just don't think that this is a place to wage war on those who make remarks about the 3.0TDI. Fact Australia is one of Japans biggest large 4x4 market. Prolly the biggest. 700-1000 Patrols sell here a month. Majority are 3.0TDI and that is because the dealers emselves think the 3.0TDI is a better package.

Prolly about 35,000 patrols on the road here this site tends to be a end point. What’s the first thing you are going to do if your motor shitz itself GET ON THE NET.

V8diesel was telling me the other day (he will expand if necessary) that he has a acquaintance in the outback who drives one luvs it and has clocked up mega K's in it. So what? 80 series TD was notorious for bad bottom end still would LUV one.

Fact our conditions accentuated the problem here and some of the driving conditions dictate that you really need a truck that will go the distance, you do not want to be stranded in the outback people still die every year from this.

Point was that OZY was trying to get help with his truck you weren’t helping so accept the shalacking if ya now have a hissy fit and leave the forum can I have your SWB when your finished with it.

this list is turning into an emotional bunch of girls list.

Just face it, there is a competative side, thats why we choose the vehicles we do, if there wasnt, people wouldent get their nickers in a knot when someone bagged their vehicle...., poor poor ladies...:)

I dont know about you girls, , but i drive my GQ because i love it for what it is, not for what someone else thinks of it. I bag and can take a good bagging, but expect to go down in flames...ahahahahahah.

Just for the record, i think the 3.0 and the 4.2 d motors are lumps of shite, give me 7.3 lires of TD power anyday..
OH, did i also mention i hate Mitsubishi 4wds, hmm hang on is there such a thing as a mitsubishi 4wd... AWD is more like it.. :)

BTW, i do have nissan, Toyota, ford and holden 4WD's at the same time, so dont give me what has.... :)

Maybe people who have had trouble with their cars are less likely to complete surveys, which would skew the results.

Just calm down.

I'm not 'waging war on those who make remarks about the 3.0TDI'

I just put three unhelpful posts up in the same vein that I have seen before. Point made - let's move on.
