Toyota LC fits to GQ?
Toyota LC fits to GQ?
Well we don't have too many Patrols in Canada - probably not more than 20 I suspect. I am always thinking about the issue of getting parts or adapting parts. I was wondering if anyone new if there was any similar parts used in a Land Cruiser which could be used in a LWB 1991 TD4.2 GQ? Suspension? Bumpers? etc. Thanks.
I'm using twin 80 series LC front shocks. It quite a common mod on comp truck. All you need to do is raise the shock tower to suit, about 60mm, but it depends on lift.
93 Nissan Pathfinder / Terrano Turboed VH45, GQ Trans and T-case, coil overs, hydraulic winch and fair bit of other stuff. (Currently a pile of parts in the workshop)
I too thought there had been a thread on it a while ago but couldn't find it -so here it is again. The LC suspension info is great. Weeman, what series of LC standard springs give the 2" lift? How do they compare to say a Dobinson spring? I first planned to order some from Auss but the freight costs are a real killer. Nzdarin, I have never seen a cruiser here with double shocks but I will ask the local LC shop what they have and the price range. Keep the info coming guys. John
i believe factory standard ones.
i.e any coil for cruiser with no lift should give about 2" to a gq.
Dont know who does it.
Most of us for GQ either use the 80 series or the slighty shorter 78 series shocks to achieve more length in our shocks. 78 series are ideal for around the 3" mark and 80 series are good for 4" - 6"

We have a front/rear set of stock FZJ80 coils, $100
Also have a front/rear set of stock HDJ81 coils $150
The rear coils are probably the same on both, front HDJ80 coils are taller to hold up the heavier diesel engine. Both sets are in good shape, still have paint on em aside from where the contact the axle .
Either ones will cost me less than the freight on springs from Auss or Japan. So which ones do you recommend - if any? What issues might I have to put them in? Thanks for the info. John
well theres a heep of things i didn't know, funy how they ride similar hights standard but have such longer shocks.

Can anyone tell me if standard 80 series coils also fit a 2002 Patrol coil cab gu?weeman wrote:you can also use landcruiser springs.
a standard spring (cruiser) is about 2" lift in a GQ
I'd like to lift my gu by about 2" and have sourced a 2nd pair of standard 80series cruiser coils.
Cheers.
