Hilux Bodylift

Post by diesel028 »

Hey guys, can anyone tell me how many blocks I need to do bodylift on a 91 Dual Cab Hilux? I've been told 10, so thats how many I ordered, but have looked underneath and have found 14 points at which the cab and tray are mounted to the chassis. There are four running down each side of the cab and three down each side of the tray.Should I do them all at the same time or just the cab for now?
Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Craig

Well i did a 2 inch body lift, on a 83' hilux duel cab, and it had 4 on the cab and 2 on the tray ( down each side ), so 14. u can get away with doing the cab for now, but u wont be happy with the look so dont wait tooo long. I had a fair few problems with doing the body lift, if u want to know about them PM me.

On my LN65

I needed longer fuel filler hose.
Longer steering Shaft.

Fuel Filler Hose I got from N-Z hose shop, cheaper than than an auto store. Got some clear stuff for bling bling factor of watching it go into the tank.

Do you have to get the whole length of hose or can you just add the extra length you need? And how much is it roughly?

Not sure what you mean exactly.

I bought about 35cm of hose as thats what I needed and it cost me under $20.

i ended up making my fuel hose fit if you undo it at the tank and at the filler it will just scrape in 2inch bodylift you wont need a steering shaft extension you will be able to stretch that far enough and still have plenty left using the adjustment at the steering wheel end

Not always true. This has been brought up many times on the forum. We worked out there were around 10 different steering shaft lengths. My fuel filler hose would not fit at all.....

So just wait till you do it and find out.

If you are worried about the fuel filler, just raise the tank as well, on some 50x25 rhs. prolly good to get the tank away from damage anyway...

Thanks guys. I'll see how I go. Got all my blocks now. Just need some time to put them in. Have to work the next 4 weekends in a row and with a baby coming in four weeks, I have to spend all my spare time getting the house ready. But I've got 3 weeks off work in mid October so I'll do it then.

what about the gear lever, will it need to be extended/bent with a 2" BL??

ive had my blocks for ages but still havent done it, my short tray is almost finished so i might see if i can do the BL at the same time as it goes on.

I had to bend my gear stick a little for a 2" lift, but didn't lengthen them.

I did my whole lift for close to $100.

UHMW Polyethylene tube $45 (cut and drilled myself)
Nuts n Bolts $20 (grade 8, nylocks)
Fuel Filler Hose $15 (from hose shop)
Longer steering shaft $25 (from wreckers)
Front and Rear Bars cut and raised (free)

Took a weekend at a leisurely pace.
