Something free-spinning in transfer case?!? (GQ)

Post by lolergram »

Just another day at the office when taking off in 2nd on bitumen (In no real rush) as you do... Then this sound starts coming out of the box somewhere!!

It sounds like as if something is freespinning inside there, or is not locked in properly... It is proportionate to the speed of the vehicle, not the engine RPM and also occurs in reverse.

I started to think of the $$ that could be going to some tyres, but that will have to be spent on fixing the case!

That was 3 minutes ago....

lol....

I went just for another drive around the block, and the sound increased! I started to drive realllll sloowwww.... Then... Out of the blue, IT STOPPED! I looked in the rear view, just a nice little twig!!!

And you say our love for the patrol doesn't cause bi-polar mood swings!!! Well I choose to disagree and re-affirm it does!!

One minute depression, the next euphoria and elation!

P.S. Theres no real point to this post! But hopefully I stop someone getting a heart attack or something like that ;)

GQ Patrol = Stick Magnet, they all do.
I've had both sills punched in from sticks getting in between the sidesteps and the body, wrapped around the tailshaft like a bloody spring and dragging along underneath as if it's half the Daintree rainforest stuck under there.
Regards Andrew.
