Post by Shorty40 »

No, not the Microsoft kind

My passenger side power window shit itself ages ago and I have made do with 2 bits of string til now

Now the drivers side window is farked :bad-words:

Are their any alternatives to Nissans rip off prices :?: Wreckers carrying Patrol stuff are pretty thin on the ground in Wagga

There's an amazing thing called mail or freight. :finger: :D Try the wreckers hotline. You'll find a lot of stuff around SE QLD. ;)

Post by mgundle »

Yes, its a GQ ('92 ST)

I dont think the conversion is that simple as I have the arm rests with the buttons. And if I am going to replace that, I may aswell just get the internals fixed.

Plus, I think the bit that is farked is the scissor mechanism or the splined centre. Which would still need to be replaced if I went back to manual windows

Thanks anyways

Yes, it appears it is the shithouse plastic cog thingy :x

But is is not the one in the power window motor section that you can eyeball - it is the plastic cog thingy in the window scissor mechanism. This is the one you cannot get to  As the whole thing is pressed in/sealed :?

You have to replace the whole winding mechanism arm thingy if that cog has shat itself, cost me about 160 bucks. 125 bucks for the set up mech from nissan and 35 bucks to get it fitted ( I couldnt do it myself, I had a dislocated shoulder at the time...I tried and almost farked my shoulder more) Mine died in february, apparantly not that much trouble to do yourself, its just a PITA fidgeting around in the door. I would have shopped around for a cheaper one but I lived right in the city and my car was parked outside so I sorta wanted it done asap

Its called a window regulator. There have been a number of discussion about this on Patrol4x4.COM and here also. The ones on ebay are cheap but apparently do not last very long. If you are good at welding or have a buddy who will do it for a flat, it can be taken apart and welded. Again the info is on Patrol4X4.com. I had to pay $200 for mine ordered in from Nissan in Japan to Canada. It should not be anywhere near that price for you guys. Next time, it will be welded! Faster and cheaper. Cheers
