4x4 Service Brisbane Nth side

Hi All

I just took ownership of my 1999 GU 4.2 TD. Can anyone recommend a mechanic/4x4 shop on the northside of Brissie?


We are going on a trip soon and I want to make sure she is trip ready. Your feedback is appreciated.

PS out of intertest what does a service cost on average?

Lance services my 60, installed my turbo recently, and has been very patient with me leaving a gearbox laying around his workshop for the last 2 months :) which reminds me I better sort that out asap!

I've recommended him to a few mates who are also very happy.

When i lived down that way i went to a guy a Morayfeild on the oppisite side of the road to Bunnings
Very helpfull and well priced the times i got work doen there to my old Nissan.
Sorry but i cant remember their name but it was 2 young brothers they had a ute with the business name on it parked out the front, Not sure if they are still there :lol:

I use Lance at QLD 4wd as well and he does an excellent job for great prices. Mike Topfer also seems to do very good work though I have to admit.

I would not use Dave from 4x4 Excellence again...... He does not honor warrenty work. I had a gearbox and front diff rebuilt by him which shat itself a month later and didn't even go offroad :roll:

Ripped me off about $20 000 repairs that still was stuffed

However having used Mike Topher, he is the one i'd recommend, not a bullshitter and honest.

Well I take it back then, I've never had a problem with Dave but it seems like I may be the only one. I'll give Mike a go next time and see how I go.

Out of interest what is involved in a 5000km service? Is a basic oil and filter job?

Might be cheaper to do it yourself then let a mechanic do the 10,000 so they can check other systems.

a 5k service really wont be much at all but if you tell them your going on a long trip and your main concern is suspension bushes or whatever and that should be their main focus!
