Tow Bar Recovery Hitch

Post by Turbz »

Anyone use these, and are they any good ? They seem like the perfect item. Snatch/tow from a solid mount. In the middle of the car... etc

So how good are they ?

p.s. I was going to buy a length of 2inch solid and make a few up for the boys that is all.

I have the one that has a tow hook instead of bow shackle and it works great ;)
Kind Regards,

I got mine off Ebay and was quite a bit cheaper, but now SuperCheap Auto also have them for like $35! I can't give you a report because i haven't used mine yet, but there's not a lot to go wrong with them.

I don't see the need for it and you may as well save your money.

Just use the pin for your snatch strap.
It should never bend as you shouldn't be snatching some one that hard. I a simple pull doesn't get them out you'd be better winching.

I agree regarding snatching, but you can't tow a broken car out with just the pin in your hitch. Attach tow chain to shackle; too easy.

I have one on my car and i love it! I was a good buy but rember to wire or cable tie the D shackle pin to the D shackle so it cant rattle undone because some times the pin falls out and then you dont have a D shackle any more which sucks cause you alway loose it when you need it most!

Pins DO bend, not in double shear as when hitch fitted. Also angular pull may damage strap on end of box section. Try also to get a wet strap in a deep one, then lay in the mud to fit pin and R clip......

Those receivers are a good idea. Ive had a couple similar.
