lockers
yep. I had the same rear locker.. JM in their own cast housing. Just the same as a Hilux centre.
Good price as these are v exe. when new.
you will need actuators etc, but should be good.
nice pick up.

As others have said - one sounds like a rover diff, the other is a low-pinion toyota diff inside a Jacmac case, specially made to have a rover bolt pattern and clear a rover track rod in a front application.
As it is low pinion, it won't be much stronger in the front end than a rover diff, so you should sell it to me...
The diff lock looks like the manually (spanner) activated type, which are a PITA. Looks like it is minus the special drive flanges?

lockers
I dont think these are the manual type... not the ones with the manual bolt.
if you look at the photo they have the sliding dog just like a maxidrive.
you will need the actuators and will need to modify your existing housings to suit the actuators.
just my 2 cents

Correct. they are. they have the extra splines on the axles for the locking parts to slide along. The rear center has got me though, it has a lower pinion height than normal, as per toyota hilux rear. but the axles are still the 24 spline rover size ones, not the larger ones as per toys. The full floating axle caps are also one piece - with a closed in end, so no circlip goes on the end of the axle. weird eh?
Re: lockers
AFAIK Jacmac offered their hypoid (toy) centre with either 24 or 30 spline axles. You could swap the side gears if you want 30 spline.andrew e wrote:The rear center has got me though, it has a lower pinion height than normal, as per toyota hilux rear. but the axles are still the 24 spline rover size ones, not the larger ones as per toys. Mal story (maxi-drive) used to make his drive flanges (end caps) in the same style as jacmac - no circlip and the axle just floats back and forth a bit. The diff cross shaft(s) stop it floating in too far. IMO ikt is a good idea as spline wear isn't concentrated at one spot.
