Locker Question not found in the Bible
I have posted this same question on Pirate. I am not the most mechanically inclined, but when I have a question I am not afraid to ask. Detroit lockers can have a short shelf life. When an axle break the Detroit usually is D.O.A. Does anyone have an idea as to why this happens so frequently with Detroit.

Generaly when an axle breakes it is first wound up(twisted) and when it does break it shock loads the centre as it un winds real fast. Because the Detroit has a lot of moving parts it is prone to damage. Where as a spool has no moving parts and when an ARB is locked it has no moving parts. Although i have seen an ARB damaged in a similar situation.
Generaly when a detroit fails it breakes the pins in the locker. Its a relatively easy repair but when fitted to a DANA diff can be a pita to get out.
