I originally had a 91 Hilux factory alloy bullbar on mine.
All I had to do was drill the holes that bloted it to the chassis a little bigger .
It took me about 2 hrs to fit it and wire it up.
Picked it up for $100 in the trading post too.

Another option is a 98-05 Hilux Bullbar. They are not a 100% perfect fit, or a direct bolt on, but they fit quite neatly. I got this genuine Toyota Steel Winch bar off ebay for $190 and put it on my 4Runner

The bolt hole for the front of the chassis and first one underneath line up correctly, the second one underneath needs to be re-drilled. The side brackets which bolt onto the chassis near the body mount need to be bent out slightly (about 10mm) and mounting holes redrilled into the right place.

Fitment wise the width is correct to line up with the edge of the flares (if you don't have flares it will be to wide), but there is a gap between the grill and the bar because of how the later hilux grill curves outwards, which can easily be filled with a plate if wanted. It isn't that noticable once a set of driving lights are fitted.

My reason for going this way, is a lot more of these bars seem to pop up cheaply second hand, then the correct ones do.

Just to make things as clear as mud when talking about ARB Bars.
Depending on what year model Surf you have, widebody (with original flares) or not there are actually 4 different bars to chose from.

and we are talking bars that will bolt straight up to an IFS front end no mods or anything.

ARB BULL BAR with original equipment flares # 3214060

ARB BULL BAR without original equipment flares # 3214070

ARB WINCH BAR with original equipment flares #3414060

ARB WINCH BAR without original equipment flares # 3414070

They won't fall off because of the 16 bolts that hold them on

The winch bars are low profile bars that will take 8 and 9 thousand pound lowmount winches.
