There is not one single piece of information on any competitor. All we know is their team name. It says click team name for profile. Not one team name can be clicked on???

http://www.tufftruck.com.au/currentcompetitors.html

Its great that they are updating with team names but your not giving anyone a fair chance when no-one can view their profiles. Take Team 26, Team Hazzard as an example. Ive never heard of either of these guys, I know nothing about them, Possibly they have the best rig ever built but if all i can see is their name and a bad size pic of their rig then i still know nothing about them. Its all good for the teams that have entered before because they are generaly well known but its totaly unfair for the guys who are paying good money to enter this comp and are getting very little support from the team at Tuff Events.
NAIL ON HEAD Ruff.

It also would benefit the spectator. I know i get FIRED UP    when i read about the rigs and the event and cant wait to get my ass down to the event.

A decent website = more interest = more ticket sales = better Tuff Truck

So what's the story?

This really isn't a hard task to complete. Just upload the profiles and create a link. Probably about 2 hrs worth of work for someone who can't really type.

It is quite pathetic, really, that nobody at Tuff Events has managed to give the competitors the support that they deserve - and have paid for - by providing the general voting public with information about the teams.

I bet you guys aren't slack when it comes to collecting the entrance fees

not that the fire wasnt under control at all times anyways.

You can usually find somewhere to do an absentee vote beforehand. It saves you worrying about it on the day.

I'm guessing at this stage they're flat stick trying to get everything ready.

I know none of these guys do this full time, believe it or not an event of this magnitude is organised and delivered in these guys' SPARE TIME... sure they might take a few days off pre-event but the majority is done at nights, weekends, etc.

Instead of taking the tact of abusing these guys why not give them constructive criticism. It might not happen for this year being so late in the piece but I'm sure they would like hints on how to make things better for next year.

All I can say is... GO TEAM SCAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure who you think you are to have be told anything.......but with so many expert opinions written in this thread any committee member of TTC has no hope of satisfying anybody with answers here. However, at the end of the day obviously a response from somebody at TEP has to made. I can advise the experts on this thread that about 25-35% of what is said here is probably right and the rest is absolutely ridiculous.

Whilst we are busy getting ready for this year's event we don't use this excuse or any other excuse for non performance. I'm not willing to provide answers to all that is written here as a lot of it is so far from the truth (basing it on there being 3x sides to a story). However, if you feel that you have been given a raw deal in any aspect relating to Tuff Truck, whether it be dealing with any member or the website doesn't take your fancy etc. etc, please forward your complaint to me gregp@tuffevents.com.au or write to:
Tuff Events and Promotions P/L

I'll provide you with a swift reply.

Tuff Truck is like any product on the market, if you have a complaint you have right to complain, we're listening. Alternatively, if anybody would like to come to a TTC committee meeting to discuss aspects of Tuff Truck that might be of concern to them, you are welcome to do so. We hold our meetings most Tuesday evenings in Silverwater, Sydney.

And Who is Team Scat? Looks like a stock Daihatsu to me. There's no way im voting for a stock Daihatsu to watch it get recovered at the first obstical of every course over something thats capable of actually entertaining me. And i have no idea who the 2 guys are competing in it.

As far as Abusing anyone. There is no abuse in any of the replies i have made. Its all Constructive Criticism. Take it or leave it.

I just feel the potential competitors should be getting a better deal then they are. They are all paying a $250 Nomination fee so they can get their team details published in the candidates listing. But they are getting very little details for their money.

Lastly i dont know of any promotor of 4wd events in Australia doing this full time. Everyone does it in their spare time. And Most people do appreciate this including myself.

PS: this reply was started before Podge had posted his reply so i had not seen it first.

thats exactly the point....

im not going to vote for a stock daihatsu either.... but if there were details of whats actually in this vehicle, i might find it to be awsome as the pic doesnt really tell you wat its current stage is....

the idea is, that if your spending $250 deposit to get voted for, and there is 1 pic of a stock car there... who is going to vote...? only ppl who personally know them, of them etc... there should be details for that money.....

either way, TTC committee has done alot of things good... but there are things that really have been handled very very poorly..... and these poorly handled thigns are the things that effect the competitors the most.

That's a valid question, especially considering it is probably a little more difficult for you to attend than most. What would you consider should be contained in the described format?? Possibly an overview of what the event is all about. Maybe everything from how the competitors are gained to the voting process etc.

Actually in regards to the voting process, at the beginning of preparation for the following year's event (usually about July/August). The TTC committee sit down to discuss certain aspects of the event from numbers of competitors to event rules to voting etc. etc.. Several new models of the voting process are always considered and after the equal of 30-40 hours discussion on the subject we always come back to what is tried and proven.

Many ask why bother having the voting when there is just enough competitors-it is a requirement to determine the running order. Currently the number of nominations is 31 so at least another 9 are required for the voting to work in earnest. The amount of very late nominations we receive is a lot and that's when it makes it very difficult to be seen to be working.

Another aspect of TTC is the physical cost. Every man and his dog thinks it is a money making machine, it ain't. The cost to run the event is around $200000.00. Security, toilets, equipment hire, wages, excavation, advertising etc. etc all add up. At present we have some unexpected costs of having to totally replace the roof on our site shed. It was blown off after 120kmh winds just picked it, folded it in half and then put it neatly on the ground about 30M away from the the shed. She'll be all taken care off after this weekend.

The matter in regards to the TTC06 DVD's not getting to the competitors until well after release is something which was a total stuff up on my behalf. It will not happen again!!

So for me not providing any particular answers on other matters, there is now some reading to be had.

Pagie

How much one can drink, many CV's & diffs one can break, and how many rolls one can put in over a weekend.

It was once loosely based on America's Top Truck event.
