Fibreglass Bonnet?
Lads, I want a new bonnet for my TJ, but I'm after something that would allow the guards to be located higher (bigger tyres less lift)....
Anyidea where could do that sort of thing? Cost? or the usual questions....

do we legally have to have side indicators?
Anyone know the ruling on that?
You can just duct tape them on - i belive bootyab.com sell a kit along with ne blinker fluid that makes them blink much faster.
tube it, then I can copy you.
Look at Paul Nasviks jeep for some real inspiration. search on Pirates....

well then you will be doing some major work.
the fenders are designed as an area that are very much a part of the structural strnegth of the whole front end.
But there is little you cant do with a reciprocating saw and a bender.
Didn't take much work at all for paul nasvik's. cough*cough
Just copy his ideas but make them higher up, trim the bonnet right down at the edges to fit and there you have it.
He pulled most of the front end apart for his: http://www.jeepshots.com/

I went through Navik's site in detail today....noted that he's got the tube now effectively directly welded to the chassis - note sure I'd got that route...
As for the guards and their structural role....I don't think they are - besides the basic thoughts right now are:
Keep the inner guards, but remove top & some of the rear.
Trim the hoodback to where I want it (about 5-6" higher).
Add a length a tube at the top of the inner guard (directly under the new hood edge.
Add another length of tube to form the outer guard edge (ie to allow tyre coverage)
Extend the old inner guard to meet the inner tube.
Add a sheet between the two tubes to give a new fender.
I'd be looking to take the outer fender tub from my ARB bumper (with some more mods) over to the side rails I am currently building.
I would not be looking to cut away the tube edge like Navisk....etc....
Anyways that make sense??
