1995 Triton Dual Cab ball joint flip + body lift Q?

Post by 84mksd33t »

heys guys,

my triton is a little low at the front - and the torsion bars are cranked all the way up and are almost touching the bump stops (i gotta trim em) but i wanna know if i can do a balljoint flip, so i dont need to have the bars cranked as much?

im gunna replace my 1.8" body lift with a 2.75" body lift - will this pose any problems? will i need extended lines or fuel fillers? I know front break lines are coiled and will uncoil or stretch as necesary (not safe tho?)

cheers!

Not that I recommend ball joint flips, the benefit is increased droop travel because you've effectively lifted the upper control arm away from the droop stop. The bars determine your ride height - with or without the flip.

The biggest problem with a 2.75" body lift would be legalities. Some states set the limit at 50mm, which is also the maximum allowed under the fabled NCOP - if it's ever enacted. Best answer to extended lines is to crawl underneath and look for yourself. The front brake lines MUST uncoil - DO NOT allow them to "stretch".

Good luck,

Scott

L200's are based on Gen 1s and as such have press-in ball joints, so the flip is not an option

Thanks guys - Legalities are not really an issue as this will become a work/play vehicle on our farm - big rutted out tracks, only use low range and needa clear some bigger tires to get the diff off the floor.

What mechanical dificulties are there with a 2.75" body lift on the l200 based triton?
- gear leaver? I have already chopped out the around surround - will the extra inch make it difficult - ie extended gear shifts or rebend.
- brake lines (yeh ill just check em myself once jacked up
- bullbar will need to be raised another inch
- stretching brakelines - how do i avoid it?
- steering - will i have issues, or if i undo the knuckle will i be ok?

Why do you want to go over a 2 inch lift - I'd suggest if it's for bigger tyres get out the angle grinder..... And save alot of hassle.
