I made some sliders for my 60s. Bought an 8m length of 40x40rhs & a couple of pieces of angle for just under a hundred bucks. Welded em up with a mate of mine & put em on. Have copped a lot of hits and they're still holding together. would put pics on but not sure how to. better than spending 600-700 on brand name ones.
hey this is what i have gotten done over the past few days its not much didnt touch them chrissy day boxing day i saw still pissed and hung over so i didnt do much but i still got a couple of things done

good going mate you put alot of work into those and they look great but bloody hell there that strong you could bolt a cutting edge to it and grade the tracks as you go

Cool!
I have 'almost' bought a cruiser, if all goes to plan, I will have it in about 2 weeks.
It has the factory standard sidesteps on them that buckle at the sight of a 4wd track.
So I want to ditch them and make up something that will take a bit of a hit now and again.
So do you notice the extra weight much?
The one im looking at is just a n/a diesel gxl. But im sure it will not slow it up too much.
Im upgrading from a diesel hilux, so it will seem like a clubsport anyway!
Any plans yet for the rear bar?

how much is the cruiser u are looking? at i can see why u are getting a cruiser and getting rid of the hilux good to here i cant really notice the weight yea the car rides a little softer but i would rather have nice straight sills then bent ones. my rear bar has been put back a few weeks cause i have started building a trailer getting it ready for easter and if i get the trailer done early enough ill start my rear bar

Its about $18,000, a 96 gxl diesel.
Talked to the guy and his mechanic about the car and all seems good. Getting a racv test done on it next wednesday,
then if all is good, and he accepts my offer (an no other bastard buys it in the meantime!!! ) I will buy it.
The guy had about 4 kids, so its just been used as a soccer mums car, pretty stock.
So a bit of bar work, some lift, and a set of Mickey Thompsons on, it should get it away from the 'toorak tractor' status
