Tip for new players : if the water is running so fast that you cannot walk through it and is deeper than you. DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH it unless you are in a vehilce that is registered as a water craft.

The river they were in is almost exactly the same braided type we have here in Canty, NZ.

The simple rule is if the water is clear you can see where youre going then the levels are not likely to suddenly change BUT if the water is dirty there's rain in dem hills and the water could be on the rise and you have no idea what the bottom is doing !!

We had some Aussies over here doing military exercises with unimogs in the local river and one of em took a bad line in rising water and got stuck. The mog went under as the river rose and the poor bastards had to camp beside it for a week to wait for the water to lower because they bailed out and left their weapons on board

Argh, started to download the video at work, but thought I'd leave it until I get to my fast connection at home. Just tried to download it and getting a "Unable to determine IP address from host name for www.visualentertainment.com" :x

The video is certainly worth downloading!!

He had a long time sitting in the car while it was floating downstream to think twice about trying to cross the river.

It reminded me of a video for safari snorkels where a jackaroo goes into a river, floats downstream a bit and then drives out. Funny stuff!

Firstly i think that is realy bad advertising for Safari as this is saying if you have a snorkle fitted you can go through water this deap safely.

Secondly i beleive there is more to that video than they make out. The water covers the tip of the snorkle at one stage but the engine continues to run. My guess is the air intake is actually inside the vehicle.

Or maybe the small amount that got in was soaked up by the air cleaner allowing the engine to keep running.

Pitty that yanky jeep (from the other thread) couldn't do that ! ;)

not only that, why is the passenger lacking a seat belt? or appears to be lacking a seat belt anyway.

If I knew I was going into water that deep, not only would I not be wearing a seatbelt, but I would also be wearing scuba gear!
