cheapest way to get a 2 inch lift?
cheapest way to get a 2 inch lift?
hey guys. once again exuse my lack of knowledge. What is the cheapest way to lift a 1lt zook by 2 inches?
I Personlay would try and stay away from extended shackles as it greatly reduces your approach angle and more likely to get caught up on them. Home made bodylift using RHS is cheap and effective. Cost me $50.

plus the increase in articulation is well worth it

My extended shackles cost me $10 and about an hour! Gave me just the lift i needed to scrape 30's and it would affect your approach ang le but oly by but a few mm!
But new new springs make the ride alot better and after i bent mine on the wekend i'm up for a new set and hopefully the old set had sagged and i will be able to get 31's on!

Im just saying from my experience on my vehicle i notice that they get caught up on roocks on a regular basis. Not that big a deal but does become a PITA.smiley_smoke wrote:how so? arent they just a few inches longer? thats no huge difference is it?sanger wrote:I Personlay would try and stay away from extended shackles as it greatly reduces your approach angle and more likely to get caught up on them. I would not recommend the shackles. I ran 2 inch shackles (1 inch longer then stock) and it greatly reduced my driveability. I can just imagine how 3 inch ones would work. Best bet is to use a 2-3 inch body lift. Very easy and cheap. A lot safer then the shackles That for sure. If you do end up with the body lift keep in mind what attaches to both the frame and body. I had to adjust my air cleaner because the box is on body and motor on frame and it pinched. no big deal though. Also I had to relocate a ground that mounted on the back bumper.
i am running ext shackles, 2in susp lift and removed swaybar.. sure you need to take corners slower but i wouldnt revert to standard unless ordered too.. thats the only downside to my 'driveability'. however i realise it is a zook and not a racing car so i drive it how it should be driven.. like a brick.. a slow brick!zuku26 wrote:I would not recommend the shackles. Thats the same as my car you can sit on 100 on the free way you can do the speed limit but you have to slow for every corner!smiley_smoke wrote:i am running ext shackles, 2in susp lift and removed swaybar.. sure you need to take corners slower but i wouldnt revert to standard unless ordered too.. thats the only downside to my 'driveability'. however i realise it is a zook and not a racing car so i drive it how it should be driven.. like a brick.. a slow brick!zuku26 wrote:I would not recommend the shackles. Off road it's in a league of it's own and when i get some reduction gearing should be even slower!

If you want a REALLY cheap lift a mechanic i know gets trailers that are about to be thrown out, takes the top two leaves off each spring (they are on more of a curve than 'zuk springs) and replaces the regular 'zuk springs with the trailer ones. They give it about 2 inches of lift. (makes the ride a little rough, though.)

I would have to agree with the above. I ran 2 inch shackles and it does reduce the driveability of the zuk. The castor angle of the front end has been altered quite a bit changing the connering characteristics. Also the steering is more vauge as the shackles place greater side leverage on the spring bushes. The zuk is still driveable with the shackels but as serria's handle like cardboard boxes anyways i didnt like worse handleing than that. Just for looks and price id put in a 2inch body lift other than that a 2inch spring lift which will also soften up the suspension and make it work.zuku26 wrote:I would not recommend the shackles. Without changing the shocks, articualtion will just be the same. RHS bodylifts are dodgy, and probably wont pas Engineering.
Do you need more clearance for your offroad work, or just to fit tyres. If you dont need more clearance offroad, then just go a virtual lift to fit the 30's and keep it stable.

RHS does the job. Mate of mine has had his in for couple of years and flogs the piss out of it ant hasnt failed. Also it was engineered.lay80n wrote:smiley_smoke wrote:sanger wrote:I Personlay would try and stay away from extended shackles as it greatly reduces your approach angle and more likely to get caught up on them.
