My little brother (first year apprentice = on a budget!!) is after a snorkel for his 92 model 3.0L V6 Pajero (GLS with the silver flares).
I understand that an ARB one would be in the vacinity of $500 yeah?? But are there any cheaper options...??? Is there someone about that makes Paj snorkels for a good price?!?!
I am just asking on the off chance that there is a maker somewhere that I don't know about, or also on the off chance that someone has one for sale?!?

Hey Dan, there are 3 manufacturers of snorkels in Aus.
Airtech and Safari are the two big ones and a unit for a 3.0 V6 Jabber will be around the $450 mark for each brand (not fitted).
The third company I can't remember (there was a write up in 4wd Monthly recently) but I think 4wd Systems in South Oz sell them and they are much cheaper, around the $260 mark supplied. Check out their adds in the 4x4 mags.
Frank and I both have airtec snorkels from tjm and personally they lok alot better than the safari's from arb. they are alot smoother and aerodynamic but yeah

cheers fellas. I forgot about the 4wd systems ones.... might be the go as long as I can see one before I order it. Sounds nasty to me at that price!! Thanks for the advice, I will send the bro over to the local tjm shop to check out a price....... supplied only...... cause I will gladly attack the pooj with a hole saw to install....
Whichever snorkel you get, ensure the top intake part can be rotated so when you drive through overgrown tracks you don't collect things in the intake.

as you say mike they are a really nice fit and up there on the eye candy, so good it doesn't look like the intakes move!
I have seen the two side by side, and I like the safari alot more. I own a safari, Charlie B. here in the states owns an airtec. The airtec just looks alot smaller, and flimsier. Both are 93's... your 92.
I dont think the airtec spins around... but some one will be sure to correct me if I am wrong.

good point doug. alot of guys here also turn the heads around when they are going thru very deep water and mud very fast. I just went out and checked and it does turn around, not very well. Because it is mounted on an angle the inlet sort of faces downwards and also stops you from opening the door so its not a real good option. Info wise the pipe is about a 90-100mm diameter so its fairly decent and the airtec kit comes with stainless bolts so no rust later on. don't know if the safari is the same but good idead if it doesn't.

Yours is an air tec??? Funny, because the one I have seen (although it was on a genII) looked like it was a cheezy version of the safari snorkel. It wasnt tube at the top like yours... and it fit right along side of the a-pillar. It wasnt offset like yours. Hmmmmmmm. The one is saw was alot smaller than the safari snorkel, but yours looks very similar in size.
