Hi frank

Gidday frank,

lost your email so have to ask here.

Let me know if you reckon this is possible.

The last 2 sets of tyres that I have had BFG & Coopers have had a bad wear problem on the rear insides. yes thats the rear. At first I thought that it was just crappy BFgs but when this last set wore in the same manner, something had to be wrong.

BTW My first 2 sets of tyres wore evenly all round.

Anyway I checked it out with a local tyre guy who said that maybe my rear diff is bent. I said noway have a look , its looks perfectly straight. and if it was bent It would be howling or chewing up bearings maybe.>??

Any way then it dawned on me. This tyre problem only happened after I swapped my original diff for a locked diff. before that tyres were Ok , after that tyres are wearing on back insides.

What do you reckon , is this possible & how can I get it fixed if it is.

I would hate to have to pull out & replace the entire rear end again since it was such a bugger of a job.

I still have my original rear end but was certain that it wasnt compatible with the locked one. Reports are that one axle on a locked end is about 10mm diff in length.

Axle shafts are different in lenght but you should be able to swap entire contents from that axle into yours without a problem

Hi Ian, how's everything going ??
Thats a strange problem you have there obviously something is not right.
The rear axle flange bolts up to the axle tube via 4 bolts so for the tires to be wearing on the inside suggests something is bent, but equally on both sides ??
I'd probably take it to a truck alignment place to do some detailed measuring before you start dropping out pumpkins and axles. Sometimes things aren't obvious to the naked eye.
In regards to the locker axles, yes one is like 7mm longer than the other but they are both different sizes to the lsd axles, I'm pretty sure of that.
I'm not so sure about the axle/diff housings but they are different part no's but that could be just the locker airline fitting and sensor switch connections in the pumpkin. You could probably do some external measuring to check if you could use the locker stuff with the lsd housing.
Good luck and let us know what you find.

Frank.
I just luv my "clacker Jabber"
