4runner info please!

Post by justinshere »

Hey,

I have the option of picking up an early 90s 4runner chassis and running gear, V6(dead), manual, 5spd, with the IFS front end and coil rear end.

Want to know if i can put lux body on it without any mods, eg will it bolt straight up to the chassis?

Also is the trans and box the same as what id find in a lux?
The engine is stuffed so what engines will bolt straight up to that box?

Thinking about getting it as a long term project but want to make sure i can get all the hot parts for it like dual cases etc

Any info u can provide on this 4runner running gear would be great.

Cheers

i don't think they bolt straight on, both Bubs and Basketcase have done this to runner chassis and both had to modify / relocate mounts.

as for the rest of the drivetrain, you can't use the chain driven transfer in a dual case setup, you'll need 2 gear driven transfers, and you may not be able to use the gearbox you have with that setup either.

I'd just look for an earlier hilux to do up.

Thanks mate. So the trans case in this 4runner is chain driven?
