Re: my pro locker wont unlock
Last time i seen a thread mentioning pro lockers there was any army of supporters bagging ARB's.. Where are they now..jimbo jones wrote:was up Appin on sat wheeling but when driving home noticed the locker was still locked in any one had this problem yet?

But on a more helpful note.. Have you disconnected the air line to see if it's an air pressure problem or a mechanical problem??
It might be a solenoid not releasing the pressure or something similar??
Cheers, Dan

This guy dosent do burnouts do they. As when they are not locked in and only one wheel spins it can be bad for thembastard wrote:I know a guy with a gu that just broke his arb air locker without even flogging it,i wouldnt even think it is that old, sometimes you just have bad luck.

But most people flog the absolute guts out of the ARB lockers and they stay intact.turps wrote:This guy dosent do burnouts do they. As long as its turned on there strong. Turned of and they will have issues if you keep one wheel spinning to long.dirtyGQ wrote:But most people flog the absolute guts out of the ARB lockers and they stay intact.turps wrote:This guy dosent do burnouts do they. Is it new? If so then that is what warranties are for.bastard wrote:I know a guy with a gu that just broke his arb air locker without even flogging it,i wouldnt even think it is that old, sometimes you just have bad luck.
Personally I haven't heard too many bad stories abount air lockers and the ones that I have heard of usually were laced with some hint of driver abuse. On the whole ARB's usually handle a pretty good flogging without too much fuss.
TD 80 Series, F&R Lockers, Winch etc
please explain? aka thats crap! they start that that shit during promotions means sales campaign wont travel to well....... lockers for stockers will be the new motobastard wrote:They wouldnt replace under warranty because of 35 inch tyres.

iv'e had arb lockers now for two years in a comp buggy and no probs thats runnin 42'' swampers . broke axle's beffed up cv's tail shaft's but there still runnin fine .lookin at running tjm pro lockers in a new trail rig too see how they stand up .but only runnin 35'' to 38'' tyre's .
It's easy to get angry with somebody else when something costly goes wrong. Nobody likes being left out of pocket.
But if I can add my $0.02 to this discussion, then with the exception of one competiton rig with 37" tyres and a big block, I'm not personally aware of one single torque related Nissan diff warranty claim in the last 3 or 4 years, WORLD WIDE.
-diff carrier bearings coming apart under high torque and the rollers drifting into the diff gears and causing carnage - sure, but ARB does not make bearings.
-bearing journals coming apart under high torque in comp rigs - occasionally, but only in high end comp rigs due to a Nissan related design issue in all H233 Nissan diffs...but ARB makes a competition upgrade for this to convert the Nissan carrier to take the larger Toyota carrier bearings, and we have never had a single claim on them.
-gears seizing due to the axle ingesting mud and water - sure they do...but.??? ...well, of course they do!
-but a broken ARB Nissan diff purely due to the fact that somebody bolted on a larger set of tyres - nope, not for several years and thousands of Nissan lockers.
So please double check your facts before passing them on as gospel.

AIR LOCKER
my problem was the hat on the crownwheel side of the carrier broke the side carrier bearing of, ARB WOULD NOT cover it because they said 35 inch claws will do that every time and they had seen it before they sugested i get the comp housing which i did it runs a larger bearing 45mm instead of 40mm as the standand nissan runs which makes the housing thicker after getting the new housing which is the same as the stock housing except for the bearing size it still looked weak to me so i have had some housings made from 4140 steel billet they will not break i have extra housings in stock if any body is interested. incidently i do not do burnouts in my truck locked or unlocked i do use it for hardcore 4x4 i didnt spend shitloads of money setting it up to look at it in the shed and i accept that things break so i am not compaining and i dont hold anything against ARB i have had their lockers before and would buy them again as they work well

I agree ARB lockers work great and am very happy with mine,i wouldn't risk trying out any other locker for now any waymick80 wrote:hey daniel i wouldnt worry what one person says mate i got arbs f&r and i love them mate im sure theres alot of people world wide who think the same keep up the good work

ps probaly the only thing you could do for everyone would be to make them cheaper LOL
I am the same i have had ARB's FR and RR and have been very happy with them. I did brake an early gq type locker. Some thing about 4 bolt where as now there 8 bolt. I accepted it as damage and ARB Bendigo (Bendigo Off-Road then) did a relatively good deal on a new locker installed.mick80 wrote:hey daniel i wouldnt worry what one person says mate i got arbs f&r and i love them mate im sure theres alot of people world wide who think the same keep up the good work

The othe I know of that broke. Was out of a GU. And the owner was doing burnouts with the locker unlocked. I dont know how long it went for but I am guessing for awhile. When finished or sober there was a nosie comeing from the diff. It had sheared a pin in the diff. So operator error and he brought a new one.

Yep ARB for me.
After having a front Detroit in the Jabber (as there was no other option) and then a front ARB after the SAS - I'll go ARB everytime !!
I've had a rear ARB for 5 years and broke numerous axles without any damage to the locker.
There are numerous upgrades available which are not really advertised but if you speak to ARB or ask Daniel you will be surprised at what they can make up for you.
What I really like about ARB is the quality of their product, locally made and the shear model coverage available.
Sure competition is good with the pro-locker but they only cover a few models at this point.
Also ARB do listen to model specific clubs and work with enthusiasts to develop products for different makes.
This is very important as not everyone drives Tojo's, Nissans or Rovers..................
