I think you can buy lengths of plastic flare stuff. Don't know much more because I don't have that issue as mines pretty much bone stock at the moment.

Go to bunnings and get yourself some plastic garden edging. Just cut it to length and screw is to your flares. Not very pretty but it works.

And also doesn't pass in Victoria.

To keep your engineer happy go and buy some of the Bushranger rubber flare material. It has a wire along the outer edge for better ridigity, looks like its meant to be there and not like a back yard booty fab aka garden edging.

Most 4WD shops stock it. BBM in NSW, Pro Comp Melbourne etc

if you put the guarden edging on right, it wouldnt loog dogey, and if you only need 2 inches EASY!
alsothat guarden edging is unkillable.. i riped 2 actual falirs on on banks and that shit didnt go anywhere!! (actuly it was laying on the ground with the flair!

Ive got the garden edgeing and it looks ok. You can screw it on so it just covers the tyres so you dont have it hanging out past the tyres.
Its pretty cheap to so you could use it to pass engineers then figure out something else later.

Go to clark rubber and ask for 50mm flare strip, its $13.50/m and you need 5.5 meters, cheaper than the $75 per pair of bushranger and WAY cheaper than $380/pair of bushwhackers.

Just push it up against the existing flare or guard, then screw it in place.

Image

Also comes in 100mm version but its $24/meter

I've gone the garden edge and I think it looks as good as the flare rubber and with the way the guards curve under you have to be pretty careful to get the flare to sit neat.

Image

Total cost for me $7.00 beat that!!

I have both, the 75mm bushranger (same as clark rubber stuff) and the wide garden edging on mine. It looks good with just the bushranger stuff, but the other stuff is only on to keep the tyres covered for daily driving and getting to 4x4 destinations. U can make the garden edge stuff look good too, and it is a shit load stronger and more solid then the rubber bushranger stuff ;)

with just the bushrangers on

bushrangers and bunnings special

BTW mine do look pretty dodgy, but if you wanted them to look good it wouldn't take alot of effort IMHO.

Cheap, $15 x 1.5m x 4 guards = $90 for flares

Man are you sure you drive a zook.

Did you read my post above cost me $7 including rivots. I even curved my corners so it looks good (for a sierra anyway).

Save your money go the garden edging, I only needed 2" of cover so it meant I could cut the edging in half length ways but you could easily get 5" out of full with stuff and it's strong enough to hold itself.

Don't forget if your zook decides to have a lie down or scrap up against some rocks like all good zooks do flares may get pretty beaten up and rock rashed.

I think the clark rubber ones would flex if they got brushed against a rock or tree, but the garden edging ones are too rigid and would probably remove your existing metal flare or dent your guard as its waaaay stronger than the beer cans zooks are made of.

Roc Box has the Idea .. attach the garden edging ones to the tube around the guard..

P_Byrne... yours is waaaay to clean, you need go for a drive ... how bout this weekend.

garden edging is not a legal way of going about it. A flare needs to be structural to a degree. It must be able to keep a pedestrian off the wheel in the case of an accident.
