BFG AT or Mickey Thompson FCII ?
I'm looking to get some new tyres on a set of 15x7 Sunnies for my Nissan Navara D22 Singe Cab with standard lift. I will be mainly driving on the beach and road and am looking for a chunky tyre that will last and look good and looking to get the biggest tyre possible with standard lift that hopefully doesn't rub when there is a full load on the tray.
Got a quote from a guy and he recommends 31/10.5X15 in either BFG AT $230 a tyre or Mickey Thomspon FCII for $240 and the Sunnies at $60 a wheel.
Are these prices ok and which tyre is a better tyre?

A guy at work is running the FCIIs and has done for around 6 months now. He says they are a little noisier than his previous BFG A/Ts but are a all round better tyre. He feels they are wearing better also. I have the MTZ but he didnt want anything that aggressive.
Toy: 98 TJ with some mods and some bling

hey buddy if you looking at just road and beach another one to consider is the maxxis 751's I got them on my nav with standard lift, scrub a tad at full compression on front (just don't launch off the washout's ), i got 265/70/16's they are wearing really well compared to the original tires

Go the FC2's they are guarnteed for 80000miles in the us. I have them on my supercharged shorty for road/summer use and couldn't ask for a better tyre, might go the mtz's when these wear out in about 5 years! I have done at least 15000km on mine and they look almost new and they have had a really hard time. Same sidewall thickness as the bfg's with one less ply so less chance of a sidewall blowout and a more aggressive tread so it will be better when the track ges a bit rougher. I used to sell mickey t's but not anymore and i still think they are a great tyre. The price they gave you is about retail
Had bfg's on dad's rangie drove like a pig traded them in after about 2 weeks of having them for the michillin's, car drove great again

Had BFG A/T's on the Cherokee, the trailer & the work ute.....over about 3 months I ripped one of each rig......
They hate mud and I don't like them on dirt roads....
The trailer is now on muddies, Chero has a set of muddies ready to be fitted and theute will get something else - I just don't know what yet.....
Oh yeah the tyre store dude kept saying "But BFG A/T's are best, they are the biggest selling 4x4 tyre"..... So by his logic Hyundies must be the best car ever made

Just rang my local dealer, they are just around the corner. He quoted $242 (balanced and fitted per tyre) for FCII's in 31x10.5/15 and about $70 per black 15x8 sunraysia wheel.TUFFRANGIE wrote:The price they gave you is about retail

Offroad. They bag out well, they have a tuff sidewall and beeds that dont collect mud! I have never rolled one of a rim even at 15psi without tubes in mud they clean well. and grip well when baggged. They DONT do CLAY well at all, the cruser becomes like an elephant on rollerskates .
Onroad: these are dead quiet in the dry they behave brilliantly, in the wet they grip well, esepecially under brakes. they give great steering feel at 30psi even without sway bars fitted. (any higher than 30psi they becomes bouncy and unstable, and all over the shop)
after 40000km of hard driving they have worn 1mm from new with no real cuts or missing chunks or uneven wear. they are rotated regulary
These are a great true all terain tyre and made it the best part of the way up Ellis track befor i needed the winch. cant say enough good tings about them .
As for price fixing with between dealers the ACCC would lovee to hear about that

We had BFG AT now have MT FCII, the FCII are great, heaps better performance on and offroad then the BFG AT. The tyrepower dealer that I got them through are doing the 80000 warranty thing also, but as with coopers you have to get them balanced and rotated by a dealer.
Next time I might get the MTZ but the patrol wont be a daily driver then.

i am pretty shore that the fcIIs have the 80ooo klm waranty? But best to check with a mickey dealer The MTZs dont as there classed as an aggresive off road tire ( MT) Although the set on my wifes pajero have done about 20000+ ks and have worn about 2.6 mm There supposed to be an aggresive tire which you would think would be noisey on the road but for what they are i reckon there pretty quiet.

Cant tell you but Tyrepower at St Agnes in Adelaide did for me. what are the ATZ's like compared to the FC2's?
I have seen the FC2's but I am unsure about em as they seem to have a very square side wall. I don't like this as I have some kelly's atm and they have the square sidewall and they are total shit. Could just be the rim size I guess.
Question still stands though about the atz's anyone run em and what would be the comparison for milage noise etc with the FC2's

I run the atz's on the 4x4 hilux that does a lot of road work but still has to 4wd around the construction sites, they handle the road better than the FCII's on my Patrol and are awesome in the wet!! Even on the ute they handle quite nicely in the wet the old toyo open countries were scary, i could spin the wheels in 4th in a stock 3L td, not anymore. I think they go quite well offroad, when it gets a bit slippery you are left wanting more but i would buy them again without hesitation, they are better than the bfg's as well in my opinion. Hardly worn and have done around 10,000km will get as much as one could expect from a set of tires, not wearing too fast.
