WT Radiator replacement

Post by Bad JuJu »

What other radiators work in a WT Zook - Std 1.3 engine?

Mine looks fine front to rear but the tubes are full of sh!t.

Ive tried the bars radiator cleaner but that don't work as the water cant pass through lots of the tubes therefore cant disolve the crud.

Ive tried a reverse flush and its no different.

I'd like to upgrade the radiator if I could, but failing that, should I just get a new core ?

Whats a recore cost anyway ?

Mine sprung a leak over a year ago, i thought hmm upgrade, something bolt in, maybe the 1.6l vitara. Truth is if you have the metal tanks its probably better to recore :)

it cost me around $150 and it cam back black and clean. If you want to upgrade just pay for a 2 or 3 core job.

Otherwise take the measuring tape to the wreckers. Look for a tank with the outlets on the same side and of the same width.

IF you find one that for one which is slightly deeper, choose it over a longer one.

a three core radiator, is about 200 new i got the stock one refurbed for 140, would of been cheaper if i took it out of car, they charged 80 to remove and refit it. It was in okay nick when i sent it in , but it came back really good. That plus i run a g16b, motor off it and doesnt over heat, sits at 180f to 190f

i have a datsun one in mine works a bit too good i need to change thermo to suit.
it went in with not much effort just have to offset it by using two the same support brackets and a little cutting and welding to mod a spacer in on the driver side, i had all the stuff there from an other chassis but it only took my about two hours to finsh, i use two hard suzuki pipe's (the pipe for the bottom hose)to swap the bottom hose to the passenger side i wish i had a digi camara to show you looks like a brought one (the wreckers are full of datsun's)
if it has tit's, wheels or a motor you better have money

Albey - I wish you had a digi too. Get your self one - even a cheapy its good for 4bying action cause you tend to be pretty close to the action so you dont need too much zoom..
