Power Steering Why is it to light ?

Post by CWBYUP »

Just bought a 89 LWB GQ wagon and when i was test driving it the steering was way to light, I mean it made my commodore ute fell like it was a tank.

Is there a presure valve that may not be relesing or is it more likely someone has changed the pulley before i got it ? Its scary at speed you can spin the wheel and it keeps turning when you let go of it.

How much differance does a RTC steering damper make ? I has a steering dampner but i will be putting a better one on it.

So all you GQ gurus PLEASE HELP.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers Nick

Alright, silly question here, but the steer tyres aren't pumped up to some crazy level are they?

Thats the thing there not !

If anything they are down a bit, I certainly would drive far without putting air into them.

Any other thoughts ?

if it still keeps turning after you let go of it then it is a valve/seal issue inside the box..
