Does anyone know the biggest tyres I can fit with just a 2" suspension lift on my 86 rangie?
And what would be the best offset to use?
I will be doing a body lift and guard later on, But I just want a quick fix for the next 2 months
I could go to a 3" lift if it would make a huge difference

33s x 12.5 with some rubbing on the front diff location/radius arms, and you may need to do a bit of guard edge trimming depending on the off-set. Minus 12mm from standard off set (which I think is 150mm) should be a good compromise, any more and you'll have issues with guard interference, although with more off set the better the front wheels clear the radius arms.
...well I think this is about right. Best way is to beg, steal or borrow some, put them on and see what is needed. Go to 2.5" body lift while you at it - it will take it without too many dramas, eg., extended brake lines and the like.

The Dude, is it your intention to do a body lift and guard cut in a couple of months time, presumably to fit a tyre bigger than 33? By biggest tyres are you more interested in height, width or both. The widest tyre I was able to fit on my 4 door RR with 2 inch suspension and no guard cutting was 31 X 10.5. It is possible to get much taller than this though

I just want to get a little more clearence, if im happy with just the 2" lift and bigger tyres, i will leave it at that
I did have some 33" Mtz for another project but they will just be a bit to wide

for best clearance under the diffs you are looking at something like a 7.50 16 size tyre. These fit really well. From memory BFG have a skinny tall mud terrain (33 x 9.5 ??) that will also fit. These tyres are not super hard core but they are reasonable options depending on what you want to achieve.

33'sx12.5........ah, I can hear the sound of the grinder right now.......gonna hit I'd say, but this is the best way to find out.
PS We're gonna be finding out how 35 x 12.5 3 lug simex fit the Disco soon....shiate, we've already chopped 2" out of the guards in anticipation, and this probably won't be enough. Proably will need off-set rims too.... hum.

no way not with 33's unless you're acting stupid. Always amazes me that many drivers feel like they have to thrash their cars mercilessly through the bush. When driving a Rover there's simply no need to - just take it easy and it will get there just as easy!

funny that i have only broken 2 axels rear one from when i drove nearly a year with a welded rear diff it finaly snaped doing a u turn one night. cant blame it for that. broken one inner axle not even giveing it any it just made a little crack dident even know till i disengauged the diff lock . only other things i have broken is about 3 side gears on the rear diff but only one tooth on each gear when its happend im up gradeing to 24 spline and vented front discs when i can find one prety hard to find around these parts

I ran stocker diffs and axles for ages doing tuff trips monthly etc. You can drive hard and not break it, and you can drive stupidly and break it on the very same track. I know, I've done both. That was also on 33" Simex, 255/85 ST's, 255/85 STT's and 285/75 MTR's on stock 24 splines.
If you use your head, 33's are fine.
