so what are the gas bottles on the back for? and painted black.... isn't that a little ... errr.... hot in the sun?

my guess is they are air tanks or something weird... gas bottles mounted on poles :?

was on the sunshine coast btw.

I dont know about the black paint, but you cannot legally carry a 9kg gas bottle inside a vehicle cabin. Thats the reason you now get 8.5kg when you do your service station bottle swap. I once did this to carry a 4.5kg bottle on an extended trip, mounted a bottle holder on top of a jerry can holder on the rear bumper. The reason was to save limited space inside the vehicle.

They are still 9kg sized bottles aren't they?
I thought they are just filled with 8.5kg of LPG now instead of 9kg.. as to increase profits. I havn't heard any laws about carrying LPG cylinders.

And F70 - Go back to Chemistry :D

Jerry can is also illegal if it has fuel in it.

Have seen a 75 troopy camper with a gas bottle permanently mounted to the narrow rear door - had a rubber hose running through the door to the gas cooker in the back!!! :shock:

Correct they are still 9kgs and you are only supposed to carry 2 at a time. Also you are supposed to be going staight to shop with cyl and straight home, dont ask me how they prove that in the case of accy. New rules have been bought in last year about transport lpg on a domestic level, due to a couple of accys with cylinders in cars.

I'v seen old bottles converted to small wood burning cookers they were painted black with a door cut in the side to stoke the fire, I think I saw them at MUD BULLS & MUSIC for sale. (maybe thats what they are!) :idea:

Hey RockyF70, if you pump hot air into the tyre then when the air cools the pressure drops. So there is no real point in heating it.
