However, after its rego'd well........
Well this too is not 100% correct, to legally be on Queensland roads he must comply to Qld rules therefore even though his truck may be regod and 100% in NSW as soon as he's over the boarder it is illegal.
Yeah this is how Ive heard it, so once I re-register it in QLD, I gotta change to suit the QLD regs. No drama really as I havent modded it huge cos of this exact problem. Will only have to change the plastic blocks to metal.

What about the locations for the road ricers and tuners etc? Like I said, dont wanna buy a house it that area!!

is that so?? Well we was told diffeent here in Tas. The tranny boys said that they each respected other State's Certificates, and they automatically accepted a QLD plate on mods on the 40. Nice of them cause the main mods were done in QLD, but a few more were added later......

Qld rules

Post by stinger »

I think you will find that even Qld Transport Guys must honnor another states rules provided it stays registered in that state. The guy who had the artic pack 80 series from Fourbys had many a discussion eith Qld Transport and Police but they could not do anything becuase it was registered in NSW. That really pissed them off :)

I often wonder what attention my lux will draw when i finally put the 8'' and 35's under it.

I run 33's at the moment as daily drivers and have had a few police make good comments about them.

I still shit myself every time i get pulled over. But i still have the 16'' split rims and tires in the shed just in case.

8" lift is rediculous (under a hilux especially) - i doubt you'll last long on the road (or the bush for that matter :S )

Maybe markil and dogbreath are the coolies. I doubt you blokes would last long following me in the bush with my ute as it is now  :finger:

I am guilty of a bit of shite wording  , however, 4'' suspension (able to be wound to 6'' (its an IFS)), and 2'' body lift and 35's with an increased track width/offset to compensate for the extra height. That is 8'' in total NOT 8'' on top of what i have just to fit 35's. I will increase the overall height by 4'' to fit the 35's not 8''. My mistake, my wording was a little misleading.

So from a standard hilux it will be 8'' in total with about 3'' from the tires and increased track width of about 6''. About the equivalent of a hilux with a 2'' lift and 31's.

Thanks for actually reading into it a bit Rocky.

And what about insurance? Who will cover you legally if you get into a smash? esp a bad one, it does happen..

Insurers say its your responsibility to meet Gov regs. That means to run susp and large tyres eng cert required if you can get one.

Just a question? Where in QLD do you need large tyres? other than a comp track?

. . . In queensland everything is bigger but why do we need a reason?

Thanks again for all the replies

Fitting 35's for sure

I am running 35s with 4"lift why go to that much height? I still need to do some guard chopping but to me 8" is just too high and unstable. Will be keen to see you prove me wrong though :D

I am surprised that you can fit 35's with a 4'' lift booflux. I dont doubt it, i just didnt think it was possible. I bet they are mickey thompsons but :)
And i have every intention of proving people wrong but i wont be complaining if it ends up on its lid either. Cant say you didnt tell me

I thought if i am going to lift it; i have 2'' now with 33's (mickey thompsons and dont scrub at all under any circumstances), add 2'' body lift and then 4'' IFS lift and 35's.

I have a mate with an ifs single cab style side. He has basically the same set up with 35's and apart from looking good (in proportion) eats mine alive.
Dont get me wrong, the pictures i have seen of yours look awesome but i didnt know 35's would go under with only 4'' of lift.

I dont really understand what you are saying grumpy. Why not fit 35's if i can? There is plenty of big enough stuff near me for 35's.

Yeh mate they are Mickey Thompsons but being 315/70/17 they measure only just under 35" 34.9 from memory. They do fit there is scrubbing but some guard modification will fix that. Agree it will look cool with 8" and 35s. Just personally Id be worried

You did say 8" lift AND 35's so i assumed the lift was all susp/body. Good to hear you have some sense; all that extra width sounds good.

In the TOYOTA section at the moment there are pictures of an ifs dual cab almost exactly like mine with the 4'' and 2'' body lift. It will be very similar if not exactly the same as that one, and that one has 35's too.

it is called PROCOMP 4'' LIFT KIT FOR IFS HILUX.

Why would you try to drive up the side of someones car to put your own car on its side to prove a point? Stick to driving tracks dipshit

EDIT- Just had a look at your members thread, i'll let you try ramp my car, but then I ramp yours over and over for as long as you tried to ramp mine

6" track width increase won't get past any roadworthy in any state, especially on an IFS.

I work in Bris. Travel daily. Sit in traffic along side police with my 3inch susp. 2inch body. 35inch bfg's.( usually all nods and smiles )
At least twice a year I get pulled.(for tyres)
Clean car, not speeding, using indicators.

But the guys that pull you over seem to have a bee in their bonnet over slightly modded 4wd's.
All respect to the boys in blue.. but some just seem to hate 4wd.

So.....its not just the hassle of the tyres but rather the full
safety certificate required each time.
No big drama really , but just a pain in the arse and another

I had 3" offset rims with 35" tyres a while ago and got sick of adjusting wheel bearings every 5000kms. They're not legal and they were dangerous on the road and put way too much stress through your hubs. My suggestion is to get rid of the IFS and get a more capable car with a wider track or do a live axle conversion and fit a landcruiser diff under the front.
