No rego needed to compete at Tuff Truck?

Post by zzzz »

I may of missed something completely but...

Looks to me like you don't need a registered vehicle to compete at Tuff Truck.
This text is off the page at - http://www.tufftruck.com.au/eventrules.html

“The Tuff Truck Challenge is a CCDA Group C Short Course event, run in accordance with the National CCDA Rules,
plus the following supplementary rules governing the conduct of the event and scoring of the special stages.â€

I'm not quite sure how you determined that TTC rules provide details of non rego. At present the TTC rules do not provide details of which class of Group C TTC07 is and this is what would probably get you scratching your head, so if unsure you'd have been best to ask. However, there is nothing there deliberately that provide detail in relation to non registered vehicles. The aspect of providing details on which class is an oversight which has recently been found and is being rectified as we speak here. The nominations received will all receive advise via the mail and the official rules via the TTC website will be changed.

As for advising of movements in rules, I oppose promoting it first and foremost via a public form. MAYBE after competitors have been advised of changes, rectifications, additions etc then promote via public forums. I was really put off recently by the way a certain club that runs a major event in NSW chose to provide information via a public forum and not give replies to any direct communication. I was team manager for the 4WD club I am in and I sent numerous e-mails to the event director and cc'd the president. Not once did I receive a reply but the info was forthcoming via public broadcast or PM on a forum. I know some guys won't give a shit and think this is probably the norm but in my mind that ain't the way to run an event, there is no guarantee that important information is getting to the right person/people.

just cruizin' - you missed the bit I highlighted that said "except for open class vehicles" which basically negates the rest of that paragraph.

The rules are ambiguous at the moment in regards to rego and some other stuff.
Thought this would all be sorted considering how long the event has been running and how long it has been since TT06 to work on them.

If that comment about an engineers cert is true then it has to be communicated ASAP to give compeitiors time to get it sorted out.

cheers

I made the same comments Dave forecept the 12hr drive :finger: ......

And was told in that if people didnt like the rules they would rather refund there full amount of cash paid ...than let them run in the event Dan

EDIT the above description of my view of the PM received from GREG PAGE is a total misunderstanding apparently it is not what he meant and I opologise for my actions ...please read my last post in this section for his actuall message that I misinterpreted ...

If you were actually told this...and I have no reason to doubt what you are saying...then the organisers of TT need to pull their heads from the tightly jammed place in their arse

All you are asking for is to know the rules in a reasonable amount of time ahead of the event so that you can be prepared for it.

WTF is so hard about that?

That sort of arrogance is exactly the kind of thing that leaves all parties with a bad taste in their mouth...and there is no reason to have to be subjected to that kind of puerile sh!t.

it isnt so much not liking the rules (i really dont give a stuff what the rules are as they are the rules of the event and we need to adhere by them)it is that we need to know the rules before the event so we can build to suit them..not build to what we are led to believe they are and then find out they have changed...

not having a go at anyone at all..just wanting clarification..we will be putting together an email to the organisers tonight with some questions that we have and i am sure they will get back to us with the responses we require

like i said earlier..better to find out now than be running around Friday morning of the event trying to change something

Yeah I do agree Dave ......Thomas Roberts and Greg Page have been helpfull with the above rules ..
I havent replied here to cause any backlash onto the TT or TEP ...... I only found out the requirements because I asked a question and this (engineers) was brought up in the conversation with Thomas ....And i did say the same about the rules getting changed so close to the event that it Could cause some issues ....

I'm not sure if this was a requirement last year or not ...if it was maybe it should have been addressed earlier than 8 weeks out from the event although there is 12 months of planning in this ...and things do get overlooked .........

I myself just want to know as soon as possible ....most engineers take a few weeks to get the papers sorted then to have time to get the cert no. onto the rego papers at the rta

[QUOTE A1] And recent PM from Greg Page Of TEP]
And was told in that if people didnt like the rules they would rather refund there full amount of cash paid ...than let them run in the event
Dan

This isn't what you were told and you have spread a vicious lie and made slanderous comment. You have two options to fix this:
1. Apologise publicly for telling untruths.
2. Have the statement retracted.

Otherwise I'll view my legal options.

Greg Page

MY PUBLIC OPOLOGY
Greg , other TEP officials and competitors , general public

I opologise for my comment it seems as though I misunderstood a comment made by yourself/Greg Page
, just so there is no further no misunderstanding I have included below the original PM from yourself ...so that the other entrants in TT07 can interpret as they wish.

Sorry And please disregard my previuos comment
Danial Pitt

[A1's PM From GREG PAGE of TEP]
Dan, we won't change the rule on having to be registered (for both insurance resons and TEP policy of TTC) that has always and will always be part of TTC. If a nomination thought that he had the wrong thing done by him and didn't wan't to compete because he thought he could compete in a unregistered vehicle I'd rather see their nomination withdrawn and full amount of money returned. There is a ruling on the % panel side of things.

Greg

In the above comment/reply the original pm to greg I was refering to the engineers cert not the point of No rego ..............In previous years people have not had to show there certificate As Dave has mentioned Above..I metioned that it could cause issue's with implementing a supplement rule so close to TT07

in previous years no engineers report was required.

all you needed was rego papers that matched the chassis number on your compliance plate and a third party property damage insurance policy.

When the competitors payed there $600 to compete in this event, there was no mention of needing an engineers report, and was as previous years.

For the rules to be changed now is a joke.
Many of these competitors have payed there money and have built there trucks under a certain set of rules. for this rule change to take place only 8 weeks out of the event when 12 months of organisation has gone into not only the running of the event but the preporation of these comp trucks under these rules, is wrong.

and whether this goes ahead or not, it shows once again, the poor organisation skills of the TTC organisers.
I sincerly hope for the competitors of not only this years event but the following years events, that the organisers lift there game to a standard thats relyable, otherwise i fear many competitors wont bother in future.

seems to me after reading Gregs PM to Dan that it is a storm in a teacup and that they are not asking for engineers ..only current registration etc and there isnt going to be any last minute rule changes (which was my only concern) ..

our vehicle is regoed with compliance plates for mods etc so we are gunna be fine..

better get out and finish building it now..

bring on Tuff Truck 07

If you do need a Eng Cert what needs to be one it ?

I can see people having 44" engineered.

When is the final decision on this ruling being made ?

Who the fark does this guy think he is the queen? Why is this the so called biggest comp in Australia and it has the least amount of competitors? Every year they do the stupid voting thing just to sell copies of 4wd monthly and then no one misses out cause there isn’t enough competitors any way. Who are you going to take legal action against anyway? What you think you reputation has been tarnished?
Every body already knows that ttc organisers are un organised and Greg Page you have proven your reputation as above

Correction,
2001 no report needed
2002 FULL report needed, and they were hard as on some for having it weeks before the event. I know a few people pulled out because they couldn`t get the paperwork off the engineer quick enough for the cut off date which was weeks before the event. Others (a big yellow n blue 75 just to name one) did NOT even have an engineer look at their rig till a few days before the event. This was one of the defining moments of TTC for me, well that and somebody was allowed to take their rig home to work on it but I wasn`t even allowed to camp with my mates.
2005 no report needed
2006 no report needed.

I hope for the sake of some of the guys busting their arses in the Members Section that they have enough time left to meet the changing requirements. Be a shame for them and their sponsors to miss out due to a piece of paper they didn't know they needed until now.
