Could also be 4.1

Check the tag in the engine bay, the first digits are the diff ratio from factory.

with the auto, i would go with 4.33 gears.

I'm biding my time and getting some 4.88's....... again

you will find that its the maverick's that usually have the ratio's that are " exceptions to the rule"
if its a 4.2 patrol auto it should have 3.9's , manual 4.1's
maverick manuals have 3.9's and 4.1's
maverick auto's likewise.

4.3 gears would be heaps better for your application as Patrolden said.
If you are lookin for those they are standard gears in a patrol fitted with RB30 (3 litre) petrol donk and manual gearbox.

Got a pair of 4.1's from a 1998 GU TD42 going cheap if your interested...
They have 210,000 klicks on them. They came out when 4.6's went in.
