Hilux Transfer case handbrakes

So I'm need of a handbrake ....but due to clearances of such ...A bought one from either Oz or US of A makes it hard .....i'm chasing info on types of discs to use that are suitable ....and the caliper ...

And any info that people would like to share .....and PICS of course ;) ....


the above will be adapted to a rear mount transfer cross member ......

Dan have a look at the Nissan Pintara Rear brake rotor and caliper as you can plum the caliper into your rear brakes and the hand brake is cable.
The Pintara rotor is just under 10" OD and is just about flat
This is the conversion I am putting on my ZOOK.I bought all the shit about 5 years ago as it is running lux cases and 80s front calipers on the rear.
Or have a look at laser cutting a disk and getting a brake caliper of a trailer if you don't want to plum it into your rear brakes as they are cable and cheap as or a caliper of a go cart,cable also.

The ZOOK looks good hope you get it finished in time

I think you seen my one on Members site. It was "Superior Engineering" Hand brake kit welded to my own cut out for the rear mount tranny. Not that hard to do. Will try to get more pics after I give the old girl a wash. :D

Cheers Garth ... Will look into it thanks for the info ......IF you went the pintara way you could prob just run a cutting brake lever onto the fluid side .....Y/N and run the cable to have as normal handbrake ........could be a very viable option .....

And yeah now you mention it I recall looking the trailer parts a while back thinkin that they may be also a perfect option to atleast have a handbrake that may hold .....

Your Zook is awesome mate will be good to see it finished :cool: ....





Willy yeah seen your setup but didnt want to step on anyones toes asking for pics etc of the caliper ...but if want to share some pics :armsup:

I think Mick from Superior still gets the calipers from the States as we couldn't get them over here.

ok had a look this arv at a local parts store ....that stock a large range of boat pieces ...there trailer brake looks like it would work .. also have a hydraulic piston setup that May be an option .....

next will sus out a go kart shop and see what kind of range they have and the size of there setups


The trailer brake already has a activating arm fitted ...would be an easy fitment with a custom laser cut rotor as rustys mentioned

And also mentioned by Garth I will get to a local wreckers and check the pinny setup

Ford rears are the some with cable hand brake set up and maybe a eairly swift/alto rotor would be the goods as they are the floating type or even FWD coralla, festiva ford rears also floating disc
plenty of parts on the bench

As much as I wish, I dont think Sam will have the one he's started for me finished as he's got a heap on for normal day to day work schedule ....

And I dont think I can afford a Yuri one at the moment .... ;)

So most prob no but in the future yes ....and plan on having it work with the rear disco ........

I have been thinking of setting up a hand brake/brake behind my disconnect on the hilux transfer I thought we might be able to put our heads together and get it happening.

Sounds like a plan But I dont think any of my ideas would be bling enough for your Rig ;)

I got ahold of a falcon brake caliper it has the cable brake running at 90 deg to the disk and it floats aswell.

there are heaps of options.
