what about running LPG through one of these coolers?
about the last thing on my list of concerns, as im running D-GAS which is injected post turbo, so i could do it post cooler, but what about the guys running fumigation systems like team green and diesel-gas australia.
im assuming it would be ok, as its a dry gas not a liquid, but as you have pointed out, the gaps are rather small...

Don't quote me here but I would agree it's back been a gas as it's only stored as a liquid, so LPG will have no issues.love ke70 wrote:what about running LPG through one of these coolers?

Our control Guinea Pig here in Melbourne is Busman for the TD42T GQ, his first runs at Dzltec's show his DTS kit which is identical to Marins gives pretty much the same power out put torque is harder to judge as it's auto.
But here is our start point.

Big Tks to DJ for dropping in an intake gasket for his 1HD-FTE 80 series.
Still have to work out what to do about the hump in the rear of the rocker cover as well as orientation under the bonnet.
But we have a start.

Looking a Z()TANS intake compared to DJ Hanson's one been 1HZ-1HDT and the other 1HD-FTE they look to have different flanges on the intake plenum.
DJ's looks like this
I'm also considering chopping the hump off the rocker cover as it wold make life a whole lot eaiser if it was flat

Matt, mine is 1HDFT not the 'e' version and according to the EPC that manifold gasket 17115-17010 suits 1hz, 1hdt and 1hdft engines. http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_G_1998_T ... _1701.html, however i was just digging around looking for the intake heater bits, and the gasket there 19829-17010 (which i have given you same last digits may mean something) may be a little different http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_G_1996_T ... _1701.html so my apologies if i have given you the wrong gasket
Remember, mine has the aftermarket safari intercooler so the piping is all very different

No worries just have to make the first one to fit yours. Will be a good test against your current air to air intercooler.+dj_hansen+ wrote:Matt, mine is 1HDFT not the 'e' version and according to the EPC that manifold gasket 17115-17010 suits 1hz, 1hdt and 1hdft engines. http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_G_1998_T ...

That all starts getting messy. It has to be a remove the ducting, fit up the i/c setup.
Don't forget, the next hardest thing is fitting the rad in the front on some of these vehicles.

I would be inclined to make an extractor type intake manifold that rises up a bit off the rocker cover and has a small mixing chamber at the intersection where the cooler would mount.
This way there are no rocker cover problems and you have a good place for data logging/liquid injection.
I would love to draw one but i dont know what programs to use.

Its still sitting on the bench, no free time to play on my own toys. But every one who has seen it loves it, especially the welding.
I will post up info as soon as it is done, as well as a full set of dyno figures.

DJ do you have any dyno figures for yours with the safari intercooler fitted? Is it possible to fit a temp gauge post intercooler and get some readings to compare the safari and the laminova coolers? I figure the safari is probably the best air/air around so it would be useful to have some figures to show the benefits of the laminova system. Also the 1hdft has a wider head so it may be necessary to have a different version for the 1hdt.Hopefully it might just be a change in piping and not the core.matt.mcinnes wrote:No worries just have to make the first one to fit yours. Theres no turning back now. He's commited to it so might as well go the whole hog. If not I'll have to be the test mule. Might be a little complicated with about 4000km between my car and you guys.Maybe time to start a new thread for 1h*** and see how much interest is out there. My hands up already!

Im quite happy to have a dyno run and probes installed (in the cooler matt ) but i dont have the funds for a laminova, and as im setting up for more long distance touring; reliability has to be a key for me which i feel the A2A offers.
Unfortunately im unavailable between now and 1st week of june (simpson desert ) but in that week ill be back and we can arrange some stuff, as im quite interested in dyno run and temps myself.
Below is the graph from safari themselves....

Andy also has some graphs of his stage 1 powerup as a reference for some real world dyno graphs (un-intercooled and stockish settings) but his site is down atm :(
