Just an update on my little beast.
Thought you has gotten rid of me hadn't you
Ok - so now I stripped everything out of the inside - and i mean everything - basically back to bare metal in the entire inside of the cab. I managed to get my hands on a few things for it:
Windscreen - turns out a mate of mine is a windscreen fitter - cheap windscreen thankyou very much in Machine Impact glass - woot - and it only took a small amount of time with a grinder and a hammer to make it fit - the top of the windscreen frame was bent in - so some minor panel beating was required.
My bros mates are all into their mini trucks - so i scored a set of hilux mirrors off of one of them who got some smaller more fashionable mirrors - score there!!
The VC seats - who said they were too big!! Ok, so they were - but I still made them fit - needed to relocate the seatbelt assembly, but that didn't take too much effort, and I managed to bolt the passenger seat in no probs.
Next weekend I will tackle the driver's seat - but I still think I am up for a new steering wheel as I feel I could be sitting a little high and rubbing my legs on 55" wheel it has standard (ok not 55" but might as well be)
Apart from that - got the indicator stalk working again - just needed some gentle persuasion, so no need to dummy wiring to switches to make the indicators work - woohoo!! all the lights now work except the drivers side headlight in low beam?? it works on high beam - but not low beam and if i changet the headlamps with the passenger side it works low beam and high beam - so i will need to find the wiring fault in that.
Spotlights that came with the car need to be rewired if they still work.
and FINALLY - got some paint organised for it!! woohoo - 4L of John Deere Green and some yellow and black (yellow fo the wheels and black for the roo bar / roll cage bars) to make it look like a true john deere tractor
but before i paint it there is a small amount of rust to look into - but that shouldn't be too hard. So hopefully come Easter long weekend it should be ready to paint and I can get back to driving it again
as some of you may be aware when i bought it - the starter motor was dying - so i got a new one for $60!!! bargain
anyways - once it is all done I will update you all again with more photos / details!
Take care and happy 4WD'ing!!
