Typically you would want to run a gas/oil bump stop if possible so you can take advantage of the progressiveness of the unit. It is not possible to achieve this with a bypass shock using the full piston portion of the damping. By setting the bypass up to act as a "bump stop", you are compromising the rest of you usable travel. Your ride will become harsh and choppy. Id space is a concern, it would be better to run a bump stop mounted on the arem or chassis.
We custom place all our tubes on the bypass shocks we build. It is all centered around your usable travel.
There is no off the shelf valving for a bypass shock. Most shocks will need to be tuned and revalved to match the application. Valving characteristics for desert racing in the USA are very different to anywhere else. I have experienced this coming from making shocks for the South African market to making shocks for the USA market.
