the 1Uz is heavier (that is some dud figure 170 kg)that means without gearbox and flywheel it would weigh like 110 kg
A 1Uz is heavier than a ls1 or a 2j it has a cast iron block and masive heads if as you sugest you turbo it you just made it 50 kg heavier plus your std toyota reliablity went out the door

from now on you should check stuff out a bit more not just take some dodgy nissan forum as gospel

Hate to spoil your party, but the 1uz motor is cast yes cast ALLY not iron

perhaps take your own advice ? :D

So if you want power i would recommend a ls1 engine if you want power! All he has done to it is costum cold air intake, big lumpy cam, new heads and pistions, 3 inch straight though! thats all the majors out of the way. and for anyone who knows motors. This car will go sideways at 140km/h if snapped back a gear. anyway if you want power thats the way to go!
Be interested to know what car, no way a stock displacement LS1 is going to pull 450kw, unless its a serious stroker or has a blower/turbo strapped to it.

I think the turbo petrol six's just dont have the low down power needed to 4wd.
To get any sort of power out of them you need to rev them, and mostly when I 4wd, I'm lucky to hit 2000rpm.
I like the diesels for this reason.
I do like driving the new toyota V8 diesel, but having drive a 60 series with a 6.5 chev V8 running a belt driven blower and intercooler running 24psi, I would go this above most other choices.

ATM I run a 1hz with DTS turbo and air to air intercooler with fuel pump compensater. I run this at 16PSI and have never had a engine problem.
Love this combo......it will pull a sailor off your sister. the rev range is alittle limited, but as a tourer it's great.

well if I would change to petrol V8 it would be 1uz more than enough power and for all you HOLDEN Fans LS1 is a Chevy :finger: and as it go's for part I think Toyota have out soled Holden so there must be plenty off Toyo dealers in OZ. :D

er right...

it's all to do with how you set them up. if you want to chase 600kw, use a big turbo, shorten the stroke, and push the torque band up the rev range.

you want low down torque, a long stroke/big displacement 6 (i.e. 1fz) has better low down torque than an 8, especially an LS1, or a 1uz. add a small turbo that's quick to spool up, and you'll have more torque than ya transfer case will deal with

not too impressive... 20 grand would probably get you a turn key 1000kw nizpro XR6 turbo motor

This is not correct. You are right in saying that you want low down torque, incorrect in suggesting that a 6, a 1FZ in the case you specify, has more low down torque than an LS1.

I have replaced the 1FZ-FE in my 100 series with an LS1.

If you were to map the power and torque curves of both engines, as I did, you would quickly see that the LS1 produces more low down torque than the 6 cyclinder 1FZ-FE does. And you can easily tune the LS1 to get more, without a lot of expense.

I also dyno'd the car before and after, and the results are clear to see, and this is at the wheels.

It's not just about torque though, although that is critically important, its also about how much power you produce across the rev range.

In my case I got a significant improvement in torque, and power, right across the rev range, and the car is a much better drive both on and off road as a result.

cheers for all the ideas and info guys, i went down to out local performance engines workshop and they are going to chase up prices on an ls1 and maybe looking at bolting a super charger on it they said theres a couple different types which would give you the power at different stages so will just have to find the one which gives it low down,

Bugger I assumed it was iron because it was so heavy when i lifed into the car i it was so big and i could hardly even see the block because of all the crap hanging off of it
i have done 2 conversions with1 uz's and always thought it was iron like the other toyota v8s
