If a spot weld cracked, you would get a fin straight into your inlet manifold, possibly into one of the ports.
so you do actually have one and not just taking the piss. thats funny.
The way i see it is they could be used to better mix water/methanol or nitrous oxide with the post I/C air depending on the piping but thats about it and i'm not paying good money to see if it works.

I suspect that if you remove the two Hiclones pre turbo and intercooler you might get an improvement as there is no benifit having them there in theory and from what I have seen practically. My Uncle got sold two Hiclones aswell one before turbo one after before intercooler. No difference on Dyno, I told him to take them out and it went better. Not sure if you have seen inside intercooler core but air turbulance imparted in a rotary motion is not going to come out your intercooler still spinning therefor the only hiclone I can see you getting any benifit from is the one at your manifold.

As much as i do like taking the piss, I do actually have a Hiclone, but I didn't pay for it (it was in the car when i got it). It is currently keeping some random nuts and bolts in my centre console company.

Stick to Nursing mate, the human body may still be a mistery but Mechanical Engineering science is not. I prefer to know why something works than live in the dark and hope something doesn't go wrong.

PBBIZ2, I do not mind giving things a go either (within reason) especially with a money back guarantee.
I installed one unit after the filter on a 4.5 ltr dual fuel GU and can also say that it worked for me on that setup of LPG. It gave more torque down low (under 2000rpm) and better economy on the highway 5-10%.
I sold this truck and purchased a 3ltr TD GU, thought I would give it a go on this too (after the aftercooler) but alas, it did not make a difference on this motor so I returned it and got my money back.
Did a bit more poking around and found that Nissan had already built a swirl valve into the throttle body of the 3ltr to help with low rpm combustion. This sort of technology (swirl) has been around for at least 30 years that I have been following the go fast mod scene and has been credited with the ability to help maximise the atomisation of fuel post carburator and providing better combustion.
Having said that, I also do not particularly care how it works, just that it works on my setup...
I can only suggest to people who are after a bit more out of their motor to try it, if it works, great, if not, get your money back.
Cheers

I put a hiclone in my mouth and found that I didn't need to eat as much.
I know a guy who put one up his ass and now he shits less.
Anyone who says a hiclone improved their vehicle's performance or economy is dumb or lying.
BTW there is a something that looks like a "swirl" point in a TB42 intake too. Its job is to help remove dust/water from the system and has nothing to do with fuel economy or anything like it.

no it needs its own bible in very large size
eg,
STICKY: HICLONES
STICKY: WAT TURBRO 4 MY TD42
just to make it a little bit easier for those who cannot read.

Chimpboy,
regardless of the outcome, your reply is very funny. Laughed my guts out!
I will remove these units and start from scratch, then re-install. I am pretty sure I'm not dreaming, but you and others have got me doubting my sanity.
I don't have access to a dyno so am really unsure how else to validate the result, good or bad - is there some other way that would provide the 'proof' - one way or the other. Serious answer pls.

it probably is all in your head or something else was inadvertadly (sp) fixed during fitting.
my partner told me there was something wrong with the way her auto was shifting (she hadnt been driving the car for a few weeks). after 4 weeks of busting my chops and me knowing the was nothing wrong i told her i did a tranny service. she reacons its brand new. little does she kno i just went and had a few beers with my dad and didnt touch it.
she even managed to convince her sister there was something wrong with it.
hiclones are just a placebo

Coxy,
Knoxfield Vic, but currently doing a 2/1 FIFO to a minesite in NT, so logistically its difficult at te moment. If you come up with somewhere in my area, I will have a look at doing something on my next roster at home.
