so guys here we have our new engine picked up a baleno i think its spealt 2001 model with the fuel injected 1.6 with 136000 on the clock as a repairable write off for a 600 bucks today so we have ourselves a donor engine and computer and seats and at a grand less than what wreckers want to charge for just an engine. so here are some pics of the new donk
from one side
and the other

ok so for the time being we will run lux springs, as we can get about a dozen leaf packs for a slab so we have plenty to experiment with. will work out later what shocks (compression and extension wise) we will need, however what is the general consensus? i know commie wagon shocks are used but i measured the gabriel ones up at work and they only had 9" of travel

The commo shocks are better suited to 2inch stock zook springs

look into bluemax shocks - they're ample for my travel, which is pretty decent (and lux leaves).

I beg to differ, there's a few factory ute sierra's running around with internal roll cages in SE QLD and they fit well, the key to them is having a good cage builder to make nice tight bends that dont cramp on cabin space

picked the tyres up friday night
34" simex JTs with beadlockers
wacked them on the paj, omfg death wobbles between 45-55 is insane. no longer driving the paj atm, need a good balance before i try again

dont know what the 34 JTs are like, but my 31 ETs needed tubes - mud kept getting into the bead and leaking air... I notice my ET's get a nice flat spot overnight too =) haha first few km in the morning is a nice wobble till they round out or i do over 80km/hr (rotational force/heat).

Looks like this is going to be a nice build up!
I'd hardly call it useless... You try driving one in victoria in winter with out it!

^^ cool idea - move weight more centrally though - in zuks we need more weight towards the rear for better balance - i'd have shifted it back over the rear diff.

yeah that is a good idea we will prolly do something like that cheers
