Front Speakers

It's a US brand, (made in asia like 95% of stuff that's US)
It's fairly good, I have a mate that works at JB HiFi, and they've just started selling it in a few stores..

So I got some fairly good prices. $215 for the 6x9's ($319RRP)
Splits will be about $230 ($329RRP) - yet to get these though...

ABF29T (6x9's)
ABC600T (6 1/2 Splits)

I looks for build quality, magnet, cone and of course sound. Plus I like to go for something you don't see around much.

Any opinions on good value splits (around 5-6") from other companies?

I know Focal are supposed to be good, but the $$$ value is just too high.

Boston are generally nice.. Boston Rally's or Pro's.

I've gotten out of the Car Audio scene quite abit over the past 12 months.

There is alot of half decent stuff out there, but at the end of the day, what I think sounds good, you might not agree. Demo boards are a bad indication of what speakers truly sound like also. IMO just get out there and listen to what you can and decide from there.

There are a few stores in SA, as far as I know no Bargain stores like JB HiFi or HiFi supermarket. So I'm not sure what your options would be.
DLS, Xtant, etc can be nice also. Hertz is another one.

got some new speakers to fit up, 6.5" splits in the front and 6.5" co-ax in the rear. planning on using pods in the front, just wondering how theyre supposed to attach though? pull off door trim and screw them on from the rear seems to be the only way.
and i am going to make new trims seen as though the stock ones are shit to say the least, but is there a way to mount them without having screws etc showing from the front. what do trim shops do? obviously cant remake the little holes/slots the standard mounting plugs use so what other options is there?

Not a real friendly environment in the doors...... when mine started sloshing i pulled the trim and removed around a BUCKET load of mud from each side. Keep the drain holes open.......

The neighbor had never seen anyone pouring buckets of water into a door before..... still absolutely no sign of rust ( galvanized panels ).

Also if your getting in and out with muddy boots the speakers may get a fair bit in them, but that's speculation on my part.

With all the water, mud and dust I really like the idea of Marine box type speakers. I've gone to the cheapest junk audio system - nothing survives the dirt and vibration etc etc for very long and the CD's get stuffed very quickly.

Fully solid state ( no HDD ) Windows carputer is my solution... MP3's, Satnav and anything else that's bling.... have everything but have to find a place to fit a "bomb proof" enclosure. A lot of the cheap and cheerfull Chinese GPS units also play MP3 off SD cards so could be an interesting solution also.

well it is my everyday car, so its kept reasonably clean, and thats why i want a half decent stereo as there isnt much else but road noise to listen to. nowhere else really to install 6.5" as far as i can see, only spot bsides doors is replace the factory 4", and i dont think i'll waste my time doing that.

so yeah, basically wondering about attaching trims, as i'll probably reuse the factory cloth trim and would prefer if there was nothing visible holding it to the door.

I gave up on mine and simply installed some tweeters in the front and used the stock speakers for low range. The stock speakers when I looked were way too hard to remove and it's pointless replacing them unless you also build some sort of enclosure- without one you'll never get any decent bass.

I thought about the door pods but remember leg room was a concern- especially the drivers right ankle hitting on any pod.
