Nah I think it was about $30k. And the navi wasn't that shit, it was his first time with the fridge! I'd be keeping an eye on team 21 too! They look like they would be a pair of trouble makers! Just sayin'

Here it is the lastest word regarding roll cages for this year sorry they have taken so long to get them sorted. If you have to start from scratch I suggest you build a cage that conforms exactly as per the ccda manual. These are the minimum requirements for Toperi 2013, meaning that you must have all of the components mentioned in supplementary rule #1.
Please take note of the other requirements as well. These are in addition to the Toperi rules outlined on the web page and sent though with your entry.

1. All vehicles must have a roll cage that covers the driver and navigator completely from “A” pillar to “B” pillar. The minimum wall thickness of pipe allowed is 2.5mm drawn tube or 32mm nb medium wall (3.2mm wall i.e. min od 38.4). 40mm nb pipe is the minimum for “B” pillar construction (44mm drawn tube recommended). The “B” pillar must be fixed to the chassis and have at least one cross brace, two forward stays fixed to the chassis. The “A” pillar must be attached to the chassis and have a brace between “A” pillars and at least one diagonal brace across the roof, preferably two. The roll cage must be at least 50mm above the heads of the driver and navigator with helmets on.
2. All vehicles must have a working park brake (Park in an automatic transmission is not acceptable).
3. All vehicles must have opening doors.
4. All vehicles must have window nets that cover at least 70% of side opening, and cannot deflect outwards more than 50mm.
5. All vehicles must have a windscreen.
6. All winches must be fitted with synthetic rope.
7. All recovery points must be located to enable a vertical lift.
8. Vehicle movements around the site are to be at 5km/h max (walking pace) (except for when on stage) and vehicle must not be moved for unessential reasons (i.e. driven around sightseeing etc.).

These rules aren't up for discussion, these are it.
Cheers
Glenn

Glen,
I know you say no discussion but in a CCDA cage, diagonal's in the roof are optional. Are they compulsory in a "toperi" cage?

Hey Kurt
We will except gussits to prevent the cage from "diamonding" ( is that a word?) in addition to either bar/s runing north-south or east west.

Hey Glenn , Thanks for the update.
I cant find any where in the CCDA Roll cage specifications regarding A & B Pillar of the roll cage must be attached to the chassis as you have outlined in section #1.
CCDA specifications allow for (5.3.3 Fixing of roll cages ,Option 1 each leg to be welded or bolted to the body shell using 3mm thick plates 15000mmsq plates and minimum M8 8.8 bolts.)
Can you please clarify this section for me.
I only ask because my chassis rails are at least 400mm from the outer edge of the cab where the cage is mounted to the floor
Thanks
Shady

Shady
The ccda roll cage plan ur looking at is for an internal cage. If that's what u want to build all good. If ur building an external cage u will then have to build out riggers from ur chassis to attach the exo cage but seeing that ur truck weighs as much as a kenworth :finger: they should be able to with stand the weight of ur truck if it all turns pear shaped.

Just to clarify the roll cage specs I ve posted above refer to an exo cage. The spec that are on the ccda webpage are for an interal cage. Either will pass Toperi scrutineering. The internal cage can b made from NB pipe.

Two car teams as per prevous years. We will be reverting back to a dnf time as per Tuff Truck with maxium points deciding the winner. If there is a draw for a place ei 1st -5th the tying teams will golden point for the position. One truck from each of the tied teams will start track 4. The winner will be the truck getting further along the course with no penalties.

In need of a 2nd 4wd to team up with me. GU ute on 40s.
Im there to drive hard and smart and would prefer the same mindset from the 2nd driver. Im not there to crawl and spend 10 minutes on a stage. The red GU has done well in the past toperi events. Our team has already been accepted as 1st entry but now need a new teammate. Thanks steve....
The position has now been filled.

We will know the top ten teams that will b in the hunt for a podium finsh before the presention. A team tie hasn't happen yet. If a track has to b run again the two teams will b notified that they have tied it won't b told for what place.

ACT club tied 2nd place with Brindabella ranges 2 years ago. A drive off is a great idea.

If anyone needs their truck transported to this comp and back home from Newcastle Sydney or central coast areas. My mate has a drop deck that'll be able to take 3 at a time. Plus spares. Call Dave on 0402 007 061. Cheers.
