OK Silly Question time Is the engine responsive of idle when not in gear.
How many KLM'S since the engine was rebuilt.
Does the engine pull hard though the rev's.
Has the pump timing been checked.
Has the valve clearances been checked.
Any of a number of problems but seat of your pants should tell you if it's got the go or not. Depending on the clearances the engine is possibly a little tight if it doesn't want to rev.
I'm not stuck I'm over here!
Watch where you driven!!!

For those who are interested

Back from Denco. Dyno tune improved quite a bit. They turned the boost up to 9 psi, and improved from (their figures) 36 rear wheel HP to 51 HP at 100 km/h.

Drove it back from wagga and apart from liking to rev more (possibly due to more boost?) it wasn't a whole lot better. They compared my figures to recorded figures of a Schwitzer turbo on a 3B and told me it wasn't worth changing to the smaller Schwitzer turbo kit they produce themselves.

Back to square one. Compression test happening monday as I believe this is the next step???

Any comments would be appreciated

You have just gained 40% extra power at the wheels and still not happy. Are you expecting too much?? Did they not comp test it at denco after hearing your story? Surely you would have told them the whole story so they can make a full evaluation.

Just asking. What size tyres are you running? Can you post the dyno sheet??

Tidy 42:
compression test has come up as Denco advised me of a small crack in the air inlet from filter to turbo. They said they didn't have the equipment to compression test a diesel (Go figure!!??). Apparently they fear dust may have been sucked in over a period of time.

Dzltec:
Denco was told the full story but chose to only dyno and not comment on condition of engine. They did say the turbo was maybe too big, but decided it was performing as well as one of their kits.

40% increase in power on paper doesn't translate to much on the road unfortunately. Wont hold 80km/h on long slight hills, has improved down low a bit but haven't been offroad as yet.

I switch between 31" and 35" tyres. All dyno figures are on 35s.

Some may come from high friction in the completely rebuilt engine. All parts are brandnew, so give it a little time, my 2L-T diesel engine needed 30.000kms after the rebuild to make me feel that this is not completely crap what I did.

For those interested, compression test was fine, tappets adjusted and a f$@ked rear diff diagnosed as draining power. Hasn't been dynoed since new diff, but a lot better. Towed a troopy along the hume at between 85 and 100 km/h (except the big hill just passed glenrowan of course) for 2 hours and ran perfectly. Unfortunately I was expecting too much and the engine is soon to be for sale. Engine turned out pretty good, but for what it's cost me it wasn't worth it. Engine work, turbo cost and tuning totalling just over $16000. That's over a years wage for me and I need some money back. See for sale section soon, will be going for less than half that amount.

Thanks to those who helped!
