holden v6 question?

i did a vp motor into a '83 xtra cab for a mate, we brought a wagon out of the trader and used everything we could off it. it was v6 with t700, used a marks adapter for the transfer case. it had 31" a/t's. and rev'ed to high for my liking with 4.8's @ 100kph. ended up putting 4.3's in it which was better for highway driving, didn't get a chance to do much 4wdin in it. but it was no better on fuel than the 3y that came out of it.
another mate put a vn motor into his lux and used the v6 surf 5speed after breaking the stock one, much better option i reckon. seemed to go heaps better.

Yes fitted everything myself, made up all my own engine mountings using commodore rubber mounts [ bigger is better isn't it? ]

Wired it all up. Just waiting for seats to be trimmed & few other things.
Now in the final stages
This has taken me 12 months including full respray.

I gather you mean the block and bellhousing are the same bolt pattern but did the T700 ring gear have the same bolt pattern as the Rodeo crank?
If so, that means the commy 3.8 will bolt up to a Rodeo V6 gearbox too.
Dont know about clutch spacings though.

Those davis water pumps flow stuff all, I've got one with the controller on a 2F and I had to upgrade the radiator to a thicker triple pass with the biggest thermo fan I could find. Yeh mate, it's no problem on my 2F either but your comment that cooling should'nt be a problem, I got the indication that you thought the Davis water pump would be better than the standard. I'm sure they free up some power and the electric thermo fan made a world of differance to the 2F seemed to save loads of power and must of about halfed the noise but I very much doubt that they come close to a engine driven water pump and fan for cooling power.jugger wrote:they used a davis craig electric water pump on that otis it was running a holden v6 and had no probs . but thanks for the info joel.
Sudso, you got me thinking about that one & I decided to check my Holden Workshop manuals & both the 3.2 & 3.5 are alloy bocks. I hope you accept my humble apologies .
