1st weeknd impressions and plans (some pics)
DeeV8 when I did RUF I ditched the load leaf, and another one too, may have thrown a leaf in from the old front packs too, mine is soft and has body roll, but the droop on the front out does most zooks with a 2" lift. The rears are new EFS with the load leaf removed, they took a long time to soften up but are doing there job now.
I think the front pack we made was a fluke and works well, my zook is on 31's without a BL, and look how far I can drop a 31 beneath the sill.

So if you did a body lift, and got some bigger offset rims, do you think you'd fit 33's (without guard cutting)?
All the gear, No idea...
You will either have to do a chassis extension or redrill the back spring mount 25mm back. Chassis extension will also extend your wheelbase which is good but this is more involved and requires to front mounts to be removed and re-attached.ronoor wrote:will the ruf go straight on with the ext shackles . cheers ron. ps sorry for jumping in
Another trap for the young players is to go for bulk flex .. It looks sensational and attacts a huge audience (some viewers less welcome than others)
A well balanced well driven vehicle will go almost everywhere a fully sick slinky sttle suspension system will get you (take a look at Chris in Frog .. anyone who has been wheeling with him will be impressed with where he drives it, with the amount spent on the vehicle and the maintence bill that it does not have compared to alot)
Along with the soft springs you need for big flex in leaf sprung suspensions come's traction robbing, spring wrecking, uni joint destroying axle wrap in both front and rear, as well as huge changes in the front pinion angle under heavy braking affecting steering stability.
Get the BASICS right and dont throw away hard earned $$ on WOW factor suspenions, shackles or other gimicks ..
Things that will help you have fun offroad are torque either through cubic inch displacemet or gears or both. Traction ie diff locks and good rubber (flex becomes much less of an issue with lockers .. a tyre that is still on the ground with no weight over it will get you nowhere) Oh and reliabiltiy .. (the fun all ends quickly when you break some bit you really need, like a brake line, a uni or two etc)
All the above will not do a thing for you until you know how to drive your truck properly ..
I made all the above mistakes.. had heaps of power (realitve to the weight of the vehicle) had heaps of rubber 33 swampers and 35 claws, pretty good flex ( a bit more than the above post).. some gears and a rear locker .. conservitiave guess about $12000 spent not including the price of the vehcile itself .. but I regularly got my backside handed to me by less modded trucks due it problems getting power to ground (soft flexy springs) great for flex, bad for control, durability issues and not knowing my vehicle well enough

dude, if that was intended at me, my suspension set up is about as cheap as a lift comes, and its in no way a slinky, nor was it done for looks, its just plain old leaves. And its also been built on a budget but it will and has shit on the performance of some big budget cars.
