Yeah thats sort of what we were thinking. I'll have to put a rule in to only have one wheel per corner :D
They need that due to the 900kg weight and the high speed impacts. Not an issue for rockcrawling.

i had a design floatin around my scon for a while involving a 3cyl charade motor and box with the diff welded and use 2 datsun irs diffs conected to each cv would work out bout 7: reduction

Checking out their site nothing bigger than 28" for ATV or trailbike.....


It should be your choice as to wide or skinny I reckon. If people wanna use car wheels and tyres (cant see why you would) , cap them to same height, but allow free choice.

Only thing is to try and keep costs down as much as possible. If you open it up to car wheels and tires then costs can sky rocket.

Not realy...if it is limited to a 28-29" tire....They dont have to buy car tires either..the cheaper option is still there, plus the cheaper option is lighter and more traction

if you limit tyre size to the same as what you can buy for an atv then that really does narrow down the choice off tyre and the cost but atv tyres are dearer than car tyres anyway

Use measure diameter.... if anyone tries to get around it by buying some swampers that say 28" but actually measure say 31" then they cant compete.

A scaled down version of course Mudzuki, It was the only thing I could find running motor bike wheels/tyres :armsup:

so generally is it something liek this that well be looking at, but homemade and with many little differences? or am i way off the path, cos theres millions of these sort of buggies round, but everyones throwing round electric, hydraulic, bike motors, car motors, diffs, axles, transfers, but will they essentially look something like this maybe jacked a bit higher???

yeh sweet,

buildings something of a beetle frames gonna push the weight over i guess, but could possibly get around that,

LILROCK is starting to sound like my kinda thing :D

been contemplating a zuk recently for a truggy kinda setup, but this sounds way more fun and not so crucial should it braeak something, itll just sit there doing nuthing, not wasting rego/insurance/green slips....

still to get any capabilty i think its gunna cost over 5 k

Ok the latest rules.

Must fit in a 6x4 trailer ready to race so

Max length 6 ft

Max width 4 ft

Max tyre diameter 27inches

Max tyre width 12 inches

Max engine capacity 500cc must be internal combustion

Must be independent suspension front and rear

Must be seated and have steering wheel

At this stage all else is free

Saftey stuff will be thought about but you can count on intrusion protection and harnesses

I'm building a clubman, lotus 7 replica and in the UK they are doing these with motorbike engines. They have two different systems for reverse, like a inline gearbox thingo which provides a reverse gear !

500cc will mean its dominated by CR500 and KX500 two strokes....


and maybe even.... Suzuki 500cc and Yamaha 500cc GP replicas (RZ500YPVS and RG500) :shock: good for 165hp or so for the rich idiots :D

Going to try and make it so power isnt everything..But those who go bigger are also going to be heavier :twisted:

CR500 engine will be lighter than any 4 stroke engine, and the obvious choice for these rules.
If you are trying to create a class that is competitive and low cost you will need to set fairly rigid design rules. But you don't even know what works yet- there is no proven design thats sweet to drive and cheap to build that you can model off. Only ideas.
So it would make more sense to create a development class with just a few restrictions- the 6x4 box trailer size is a brilliant idea, maybe limit engine choice to anything internal combustion and pre 1990 manufactured? It would be nice to see little car engines tried out as well, eg VW.
Maybe to start out with just "run what you brung"- anything that will fit into a 6x4 trailer.
As it becomes clearer what works and what doesn't, maybe then tighten up the rules to keep it cheap, or begin a "one design" class.
