One Ten V8
Specs of 787 injectors and 901 Commodore v6 as v follows
787 specs
pressure 3.5 bar
137 Grams per minute
4.6 grams per 1000shots
at .63 milliseconds per shot
14.5 Ohms resistance

901
pressure 3 bar
146.3 grams per Minute
4.29grams per shot

Just note that the green 787 is measured at 3.5 bar, so you have to have an adjustable fuel pressure reg. The 787s are shorter than earlier injectors so need a different rail.

Bosch told me that effectively the 901 Commodore injectors and the 787s had identical outputs , BUT at different pressures.

Nice one, where did you source the tbi from? What size is the swirl pot looks about .5 litre.

Was it worth he trouble?

Thanks for saying it looks organised, I think it looks UN-organised!
The swirlpot is about a litre in size, it is just an oil catch can which I modified but it works well.
The TBI is a standard GM Rochester one found on just about every Chev from the mid 80's onward. This one was off a 5.7L but I swapped the injectors for ones out of a 4.3 V6. I made up an adapter out of 1/2" alloy plate to mount it to the Willpower manifold. I did this mainly because it still retains the original look with the aircleaner and if it ever plays up I can chuck on a Holley 4 barrel to get me home.
I would say without hesitation to go for the Megasquirt EFI. It's so simple to setup and even though I haven't been able to tune it on the road (My laptop's battery doesn't work), even using the basic map (estimated and by 'feel'), it is better than the carb in starting, economy and driveability. Power is down a bit at the top end but that is just a matter of putting more fuel in to the map.
Any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact me :)

nice work :P

with the swirl pot. - what sort of lift pump are you using to feed it and are you running a return / overflow line back to the tank?

i was going to run a return line, but if its not needed.

any problems with heat soak due to the surge tank been in the engine bay?

thanks.

Popeye,i have seen a landrover lightweight that used a surge tank with the return line running into it, so no return to the tank. The guy sent me this link.

https://www.burtonpower.com/dets_produc ... 16&PSet=98

Something compact like this would be ideal.

My P76 had an electric pump, just the basic goss square one, mounted under the car, so I am using that. My fuel system goes:
LOW PRESSURE PUMP--->FILTER--->SWIRLPOT--->EFI PUMP--->TBI, then from the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR (Built in to TBI) --->SWIRLPOT--->RETURN LINE. The return line I am using is the factory P76 one which was just a vapour return line (only 3-4mm) to stop vapourising but it works Ok with the TBI because it only works on 13psi. If I was using multi injectors I would use a far bigger line. There hasn't been any problem with heat soak, the surge tank is over a foot away from the engine anyway.
It could be made a lot better and ideally I would have liked to mount the swirlpot in the boot, but this was really just a trial to see how it all worked and I am impressed so far. I am going to transplant the system into another car so I am not too fussed on how it looks at the moment.
Oh, yea for some really nice looking swirlpots, check out these:

At 13 psi, couldnt you use just the one pump ? I think the vl pump does about 40-45 psi ? Where did you source the tbi from, a local wrecker ?

There's always the LR genuine parts swirlpot (AKA "Sedimentor")
Image

Not as sexy as most but it does the job. It's advisable but not essential to put a slight restriction in the swirl pot return line (biro pen cap is a good one I've heard) to keep a little bit of pressure in there.

I did try just using the goss pump but it is only rated at 5-6psi (for a carb) and while it did run at idle, it wouldn't under load. Also, when cornering with a low (under 1/4) tank it would starve the pump and the motor would die. I even had it running with the original mechanical pump in my driveway. I think the VL pump is rated at 90psi, a bit overkill for my application but I got it cheap. I got the TBI from ebay US, it was $20 from memory. I also got the sensors from there but they are just standard GM sensors from Commodores, Carmiras etc. I have seen people use the TBI from the EA Falcon but the throttle linkage is on the wrong side and they use a different air cleaner. I think the GM TBI is better as there is a heap of aftermarket gear for them. Check out this place:

The genuine Landrover swirlpot looks like a good thing.
I am hoping to buy a Range Rover soon which I can put the motor out of this P76 into.

Do you guys know there is also source code available that allow MSII to control 460LE (700r) Transmissions

Some features are:
Standard mode
Manual shift
Paddle shift
Launch Control
Transbrake
Traction Control

It's amazing how much a $200 ecu can be made to do.

How long before we see haultech style traction control as well ?

Still OS order, maybe see if someone else wants a kit to save on freight costs.

Group buy for EDIS Spark modules

http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... hp?t=75847

I got mine from MSII Glens Garage, smooth transaction took only two weeks to arrive
One thing that impressed me was all the components are packed and labeled seperatly, not just one big bag of components
Originally got it for another project and never got around to it, two years ago
Finding this thread might give me a kick along to install MSII with Falcon throttle body into the Triton
Better cold starting is also an incentive ATM

Cheers
Wayne

I'm a complete novice when it comes to injection.......

I have been looking at putting a carbed Holden 308 in my Rover and have deliberately overlooked the injected 5.0 because of the hassle and cost of adapating speed sensors, body control modules etc etc.

But, could I just connect a Megasquirt system to a basic injected 5.0 and forget about all the Holden electronics? That would save a heap of cost, both in buying the engine and installing it. If so, this would have to be ideal for engine conversions.

It would be heaps easier and better to keep the Holden efi setup. A good holden dealer will reset the BCM settings for you, a mates, mate :D just had it done for ~$80.00. The holden / delco computer efi setup is top notch, not worth the change.

If you are buying a bare holden efi motor then go with the MS it will be cheaper than the gm ecu and ecm mods, plus you can make a short loom to suit without having any unecessary plugs or sockets.

I agree with Popeye on this.
If you want a Holden efi motor then The Holden ECU is a terrific uniit.
Have a look at the Kalmaker site for some detail.
www.kalmaker.com.au
There are quite a few specialists that can disable functions like body control and provide bits..

www.castleauto.com.au/efi.htm
I am even thinking of a Holden ecm to run my 3.9 as you can have full stepper control, plus wide band o2 sensor control without all the bullshit which seems to be necessary for tuning a megasquirt. all the sensors and parts will be available anywhere also, unlike the US sensors and bits necassary for a megasquirt.
I think Megasquirt is great for retro installations , particularly on motors that do not have efi manifolds available.

Ms can be made to use any sensor that you have access to and you only use what you need, there are no excess inputs unless you add them your self, by the time you have the ecm modded to take out the speed/ auto sensors etc, you have spent more than triple what the MS would cost to build and install.

Remember the Holden sensors are the same as the ones specified to use with the Megasquirt, after all they are GM. For my Megasquirt I used 2 Holden V6 coolant sensors, one for the coolant temp, one for the air temp (cut off the metal sensor cover). If you could find someone with the Kalmaker software you could get a Holden ECU reprogrammed as mentioned but the fun with Megasquirt is doing it yourself and learning how EFI works. For all-out simplicity, get a TBI from the US along with it's sensors and looms and ECU as they are a dime-a-dozen there and bolt it on using an adapter to your existing 4-barrel intake. I may have a megasquirt system for sale soon.
