60 series viscous fan clutch

After reading through Ezookiel's tales of woe (http://carl.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtopi ... highlight=), I had a thought..
My fan clutch on my FJ62 shit itself a while back, and I just rocked on down to the wreckers and picked up another one. At the time, I didn't think anything of it, but the wrecker mentioned it came off a diesel. It does seem to roar a bit more often now, but I'd just put that down to it being summer and warmer..
Is this going to make any difference to me? Do the diesel ones lock up earlier or later than the petrol ones?
Cheers!
